COASTAL FIRE BAN IN EFFECT

Beginning May 7, 2026, all fire permits within the Village of Port Alice will be rescinded and no burning will be permitted until further notice. This includes campfires at Link River Municipal Campground and Lion’s Park.

This ban is in place to help reduce wildfire risk and protect our community and surrounding forests.

Please ensure all outdoor burning activities are extinguished prior to the effective date and comply with the fire ban regulations.

Drivers can expect a slow moving vehicle along roadways on Highway 19 and 30 as machine sweeping is in progress. Please slow down, move over, and yield to oncoming traffic.
Slow down, obey signs and watch for roadside workers.

Drivers can single lane, alternating, traffic on Highway 30 from Marble River to Port Alice. Drivers are reminded to adhere to traffic control personnel and signage.

Stormy weather, such as strong winds and heavy rain, can be intense, occur suddenly and last for several days ⛈️

Make sure you have a home emergency kit with the following items in case you need to stay home without electricity, running water or heat:

• Non-perishable food
• Water
• Battery-powered flashlight and radio
• Extra batteries
• First-aid kit and medications
• Copy of your emergency plan and copies of important documents, such as insurance papers
• Garbage bags and moist towelettes
• Seasonal clothing, sturdy footwear and an emergency blanket

Don’t forget to include items specific to your needs, such as pet supplies, prescriptions and more! ✔️

If you end up using any supplies from your kit, remember to replace them ✔️
