What was all the commotion in town this weekend?

The Port Alice Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Low Slope Embankment Rope Rescue course, welcoming firefighters from Sointula Fire Dept and Port Hardy Fire Rescue to join in.

Over the weekend heat, participants trained in modern embankment rescue techniques—building skills in rope systems, teamwork, and safe extrication on low- to mid-angle terrain. This collaborative training not only strengthens our emergency response capacity here in our quiet little village, but also enhances readiness across other North Island communities, while fostering strong mutual-aid partnerships.

A heartfelt thank you to those who support our department and make these training opportunities possible. We are proud to serve our community.
