Two whales have washed ashore in Point May, it has been reported to the Whale Release and Strandings group. They have advised that people not go near their tails and DFO Conservation officers have been notified.

🗑️ DUMPSTERS AVAILABLE THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

Residents of Point May are advised that dumpsters will be located by the Town Hall this Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for residents’ use.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of household waste responsibly. We ask everyone to help keep the area clean and tidy.

This past week, the Town of Point May celebrated an incredible milestone for our Town Clerk, Janice Cousins, as she marked 25 years of service with the Town! ❤️

Twenty-five years is a Silver Anniversary — a quarter-century of dedication, commitment, loyalty, and service to our community. What an incredible achievement!

Janice has been an important part of the Town of Point May for the past 25 years, and we are truly grateful for all the hard work, knowledge, and dedication she has given to our town and its residents over the years.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador is inviting members of the public to apply for a new Public Experience Advisory Group.

We are looking for patients, caregivers, family members, and others with experience using healthcare in Newfoundland and Labrador to help bring public perspectives into our work. Public advisors will be paid for their time, receive training and support, and take part in online meetings about every three months.

We would appreciate your help sharing this opportunity with your networks, clients, members, or community contacts.

📢 PUBLIC NOTICE: BOIL WATER ADVISORY EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

September 25, 2026

Town of Point May, NL

Please be advised that a Boil Water Advisory is in effect for all residents and properties connected to the public water system, effective immediately, upon the advice of Service NL and the Department of Health and Community Services.

Required Precautions:

💧Residents must boil all water vigorously for at least 1 minute before using it for:

Drinking or making ice brushing teeth

Preparing food or infant formula

Washing fruits and vegetables

General Water Use Guidelines

🛀Infants and Toddlers:

Give them boiled water or bottled water.

Showering/Bathing:

Tap water remains safe for bathing adults and older children, provided no water is swallowed.

Dishwashing:

Ensure dishes are rinsed in boiled water or a sanitizing solution if using tap water.

This advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Water samples must be sent for testing, and the provincial government must confirm the system is completely safe before the advisory can be lifted.
