The Burin Peninsula Regional Service Board would like to advise all Municipalities and Residents that the waste disposal site will be closed on Saturday September 5th due to the Labour Day Holiday. The site will re-open on Tuesday September 8th , 2026 at 8:00 am.

Regular Waste Collection will Not be affected by this Holiday.

The Town of Point May has received funding under the Community Enhancement Employment Program (CEEP) and is now accepting applications from interested and eligible workers.

πŸ“… Expected Start Date: September 7, 2026
πŸ“Œ Application Deadline: August 26, 2026

Worker Eligibility:
β€’ Applicants must be currently unemployed.
β€’ Casual, part-time and call-in workers are not eligible.
β€’ Applicants must not have accumulated enough insurable hours during the current year to already qualify for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
β€’ Applicants must have at least 20 hours of eligible EI insurable hours.
β€’ Individuals currently receiving EI benefits and within the last three weeks of their claim may be considered eligible.

Individuals requiring the fewest hours of employment will be considered first.

Required Documents:

1. Completed Employee Declaration Form confirming the number of hours required to become EI eligible (up to a maximum of 470 hours, subject to change).
2. A copy of the My Latest Claim from your My Service Canada Account if you are currently receiving EI and are within the last three weeks of your claim.
3. All Records of Employment (ROEs) obtained within the last 12 months.

⚠️ All workers must be preapproved by the Department before commencing employment on a CEEP project.

πŸ’§ WATER MAIN BREAK – NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

The Town of Point May would like to advise residents that there has been a break in the main water line.

Our crew will be onsite tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. to begin the necessary repairs.

Residents will be notified once the repair has been completed and the water service is fully restored.

⚠️ Please be advised: Once the water line is repaired and service resumes, residents may notice sediment or discoloured water in the lines. This can occur as a result of the repair.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while our crew works to complete the repair.

The dumpster located by the Town Hall is for community use.

As there is currently no bulk garbage collection available, residents are welcome to put their appropriate items in the dumpster.

The dumpster will remain at the Town Hall until Friday.
