🎤 We’re pleased to welcome The Honourable David Brazil, E.C.N.L., Senior Advisor at Global Public Affairs, as the Closing Keynote Speaker at PBIS 2026.

With more than three decades of experience across government, business, labour, and community service in Newfoundland and Labrador, David brings a broad perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing the province. A former provincial party leader, Cabinet Minister, and five-term MHA, his experience spans public policy, strategic planning, business, labour relations, and organizational leadership.

In his closing keynote, “Newfoundland & Labrador at an Economic Crossroads: The Opportunity in Front of Us and What We Do Next,” David will bring together key conversations from PBIS 2026 and look ahead to the opportunities and choices facing Newfoundland and Labrador.

Born in St. John’s and raised in Goose Bay, Labrador, Seamus brings extensive experience in government, public policy, natural resources, and national affairs. During his time in federal government, he served in several Cabinet roles, including Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of Indigenous Services, Minister of Labour, Minister for Seniors, Minister of Veterans Affairs, and Associate Minister of National Defence.

Today, he serves as Vice Chair at Global Public Affairs and Senior Business Advisor at Stewart McKelvey.

🎤 We’re pleased to welcome The Honourable Joanne Thompson, Minister of Fisheries and Member of Parliament for St. John’s East, as the Luncheon Keynote Speaker on Day 1 of PBIS 2026.

Born and raised in St. John’s, Minister Thompson brings a diverse background in public service, health care, community leadership, and entrepreneurship. She has served as the Member of Parliament for St. John’s East since 2021 and previously served as Executive Director of The Gathering Place.

In her keynote, “Positioning Newfoundland & Labrador for Investment, Trade & Growth,” Minister Thompson will explore the forces shaping the province’s energy and industrial landscape, with a focus on investment, infrastructure, major projects, and emerging opportunities across Placentia Bay.
