Poison ivy: friend or foe? 🌿

It may cause an itchy rash, but poison ivy is an important native plant. Deer and birds feed on it, and its extensive root system helps stabilize the shifting sands at Sandbanks!

To avoid bringing home an unwanted souvenir:

βœ… Learn to identify poison ivy
βœ… Stay on designated trails (pets too!)
βœ… Wash exposed skin with dish soap to remove plant oils

A little awareness goes a long way toward enjoying the outdoors safely!

Help protect the shoreline ecosystem at Sandbanks by leaving driftwood where you find it. πŸ’™
