Whether you're looking for a job, or looking to hire, the Durham Employment & Newcomer Centre can help. Locations in Pickering and Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

The Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre is a non-profit organization, funded by both the provincial and federal government. Therefore, we are able to provide you with these services free of charge. With two locations in Oshawa, and one in Pickering, we serve between 1600 job seekers each month. We have been successfully helping job seekers and employers achieve their employment goals since 1983. Our professional and experienced staff is committed to helping you in any way we can.

Yesterday's Operation Backpack Drive Pick-up at the Pickering Welcome Centre was a tremendous success. 🎒 We were excited to see families come through our doors, collect backpacks, and leave with huge smiles on their faces as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Thank you to United Way Durham Region for making this initiative possible.

Families also had the opportunity to visit and connect with our valued partners, including Durham Region Health Department, Pickering Public Library, and YMCA Family Play Time. Many families also enjoyed exploring the DENC Boutique, where they had free access to professional clothing, shoes, and other essentials to support their personal and employment journeys.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners, staff, volunteers, and everyone behind the scenes who helped make this event possible. Together, we're helping families start the school year with confidence. 💙

Important reminders:
Please bring one piece of government-issued photo ID when picking up your backpack. Backpacks will be distributed to registered participants. If someone is picking up on your behalf, both IDs must be provided. Approval is at the discretion of staff.

Make the most of your visit by connecting with local community partners, including: Pickering Public Library, Durham Region Health Department and YMCA Family Play Time.
