August’s numbers tell an incredible story of what happens when a community comes together.

Thanks to our generous donors, community partners, supporters and volunteers, we were able to provide food support to 3,134 individuals in August, including 1,178 children. Across 913 visits, an incredible 45,150 lbs of food was distributed to our neighbours in Pickering and Ajax. We also provided 430 Lunchbox Heroes bags, helping children and families through those final weeks of summer.

Behind every one of these numbers is a person or family who needed a little extra support — and behind every meal is a community that chose to help.

Whether you donated food, fresh produce, funds, your time, or helped us through a community or grocery store collection, you helped make this impact possible.

To every donor, volunteer, partner and supporter who continues to stand with us: thank you for helping us put food on tables and support our neighbours when they need it most.

That’s a wrap on Lunchbox Heroes 2026!

What an incredible first summer for our Lunchbox Heroes program! In July and August, we distributed an amazing 870 lunchboxes filled with kid-friendly meals and snacks, helping to fill the gap while children were away from school and the meal programs they rely on.

And we finished BIG! 🎉 128 children received brand-new backpacks stuffed with Lunchbox Heroes food AND school supplies yesterday, to help them head back to class ready for the year ahead!

A HUGE thank you to our incredible volunteers, who helped pack the lunchboxes each week AND donated the majority of the school supplies that filled these backpacks! ❤️ You already give so much of your time and energy to our food bank and your generosity went above and beyond to make back-to-school extra special for these kids.

To every donor, community partner and volunteer who supported Lunchbox Heroes this summer — THANK YOU!

Fresh Food, Full Hearts!

We are tremendously grateful to the amazing donors and community partners who make it possible for us to offer such an incredible variety of fresh produce to our clients each week.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are an important part of a healthy, balanced diet and with grocery costs continuing to stretch household budgets, having access to fresh food can make a meaningful difference for the families we serve.

To all of our generous donors who continue to share their abundance with us — thank you. Your support is helping us provide more than just food; it is providing choice, nutrition, dignity and care.

💚 THANK YOU, SECOND HARVEST!💚

A huge thank you to our wonderful partners at Second Harvest for their generous donation of 4 skids of fresh produce and non-perishable food!

This incredible donation will help us provide nutritious food to the families and individuals who rely on our food bank, making a real difference in our community.

We are so grateful for our many years of impactful partnership with Second Harvest. Together, we’re working to rescue good food, reduce waste, and most importantly, ensure no one in our community goes hungry.

The City of Pickering is helping connect more residents with the opportunity to enjoy the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) this summer! 🎡🍦🎢☀️

The Canadian National Exhibition has provided the City with 1,000 complimentary admission passes for residents who may be facing financial, accessibility, or other barriers that can make recreation and family experiences harder to access.

As part of its commitment to reducing barriers to participation and creating more equitable access to experiences that contribute to quality of life, the City is working with local non-profit organizations, community groups, and public agencies that have trusted relationships with the people they serve.

Through these community connections, the passes can be distributed thoughtfully and reach residents who may benefit the most from the opportunity.

St. Paul's on-the-Hill Community Food Bank is among the first local organizations to receive passes for the individuals and families it supports, with additional passes being shared through eligible organizations across Pickering.
