We are saddened to hear of the in the line of duty death of Montreal police officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane.

The policing family mourns at this difficult time alongside their family, friends, and colleagues.

Thoughts are with the civilian victim and second officer injured.



We also hope for a speedy recover for two RCMP officer recovering in hospital after being shot while responding to a call.

➡Impaired Arrest
A 37-year-old Bancroft man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:00am on June 21, 2026, an officer on general patrol on Aylmer Street noticed a vehicle driving without rear lights. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the Aylmer Street and Sherbrooke Street area. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Bancroft man was arrested and charge with:
• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Drive without proper rear light - motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court August 4, 2026.

➡Robbery Arrest
A 32-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on three warrants is facing more charges after an incident Sunday morning.

At approximately 11:30am on June 21, 2026, officers with Community F.I.R.S.T were called to a business in the Rink Street and George Street area about an incident in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had been in the store attempting to leave with unpaid items and when asked to leave started to smash glass items. The suspect also verbally threatened the store employee.

As a result, a 32-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
• Robbery with Intent
• Mischief Under $ 5,000
• Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused is also currently bound by an undertaking with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 22, 2026.

Media Release - Monday, June 22, 2026

➡Point Firearm Arrest
Three people, including two teenagers, are facing charges in connection with two incidents overnight Friday.

At approx. 11:50pm on June 19/26, officers were called about an incident that had happened at a residence in the Parkhill Rd & Monaghan Rd area. Two people came out and started verbally threatening the victim with one pointing a firearm at the victim. The victim fled the area in their vehicle.

Officers canvassed the area but did not locate the suspects.

At approx 1:10am on Sat, June 20/26, a call for service came in about a two teenagers with fi****ms at a business in the Chemong Rd & Bellevue St area.

Officers located several people matching the description given to police walking in the parking lot. They were taken into custody.

During a search after arrest officers seized three BB guns.

A 24-year-old Ottawa woman wanted in the previous incident was with the group and taken into custody.

While in custody, the 17-year-old girl became aggressive and kicked and scratched officers.

As a result:
A 17-year-old Ptbo girl was arrested in connection with both incidents and charged with:
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order
• Pointing a Firearm
• Assault with a Weapon
• Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Assault a Peace Officer X2

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to not possess any weapon(s) as defined by the Criminal Code.

The accused was held in custody and appeared court on Sat, June 20/26.

A 15-year-old Ptbo boy was arrested in connection with the incident at the business and charged with:
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Carrying concealed weapon
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 27/26.

A 24-year-old Ottawa woman was arrested in connection with the incident at the residence and charged with:
• Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sat, June 20/26.

On Friday, we were honoured to take in the Indigenous Peoples Day event at Nicholls Oval hosted by the Urban Indigenous Working Group.

June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day and coincides with the Summer Solstice.

2026 is the 30th Anniversary of this celebration and a time to recognize and honour the traditions, culture and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people.
