YES works to reduce and prevent homelessness by providing shelter, education and transitional supports for youth and families in Peterborough and the Kawarthas. In addition to emergency housing, we offer support to youth and families through:

Emergency food cupboard

Assistance with housing and employment searches

Life skills training

The Carriage House alternative classroom (in partnership with PCVS and the KPRDSB)

Vocational and educational programs (in partnership with other community services)

A huge thank you to thePARISH Church Ptbo for their incredible generosity!

When we discovered that 8 primary students in our Transitional Housing Program didn't have the school supplies they needed to start the year off right, we knew we needed some help. Within just 24 hours, thePARISH showed up in a BIG way, donating backpacks full of supplies (and then some extra little treats!) to help set these kids up for success.

Because of your kindness, these students get to walk into their classrooms feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn. That kind of support doesn't just fill a backpack, it fills a child with hope.

More Than Just a Safe Space...Part 3: The Carriage House Classroom 🏫

For a young person experiencing homelessness, staying in school can feel impossible... unless someone builds a space where it isn't.

That's exactly what the YES Carriage House Classroom offers, in partnership with KPRDSB. It's more than a classroom - it's stability, nurturing, and a chance to break down the stigma and barriers standing between youth and their education.

In 2025, the Carriage House gave 17 young people the chance to refocus on their education, and 7 of them walked away with their high school diploma. 🎓

Every diploma is more than an academic milestone; it's a young person building a foundation for their future.

Can you help our At the Door Program? 🧀🥛

It costs us $385 to run At the Door for one day.

Every day, 60-70 people come to our front door for snacks, water, and essential hygiene and clothing items. For some, it's the only food they'll get that day.

🪷 IT'S THANK YOU THURSDAY! 🪷

Four years and counting! Our partnership with the Institute for Studies in Global Prosperity just keeps growing, and so does the difference it makes.

A couple of weeks ago, their students rolled up their sleeves for cleanup, garden prep, and painting, as well as making sandwiches for our At the Door program.

Zahra usually lends her time to our food program, but last week she stepped into our Carriage House Drop-In to share a different gift; beautiful henna designs for clients and staff alike!

More Than Just a Safe Space - your 2025-26 Impact Report is here!

Your 2025 Impact Report captures a year of challenges, progress, perseverance - and, most importantly, the incredible difference made possible when our community comes together. Today's stop on the tour: our Prevention & Diversion, a part of our Outreach Program.

This program reaches youth at the earliest signs of housing instability, connecting them with housing, mental health, education, employment, and community supports before a crisis becomes homelessness.

Using a strengths-based approach, our team helps youth find safe alternatives to shelter, whether that's rebuilding family relationships, strengthening support networks, or securing stable housing. Every young person who stays safely housed is a future made brighter. Investing in prevention today means less need for emergency shelter tomorrow.

We need your help!

When youth and families arrive at our emergency shelter, they often come with nothing, having left situations where they couldn't bring even the basics with them. We want every person who walks through our doors to have access to simple dignity items from day one.

Right now, we're specifically asking for:
🧼 Deodorant - all sizes
🦷 Toothbrushes - all sizes
🦷 Toothpaste - all sizes

With 30 shelter spots, we're hoping to stock up enough for 30 individuals, so every new arrival has what they need waiting for them. These small items make a big difference for someone starting over. If you're able to donate, every bit helps our youth and families feel cared for and human during a really difficult time.
