June is Indigenous History Month.

Youth and staff participated in Red Dress Day, learned deer hide scraping at Tecasy Ranch, and transformed those hides into rattles — all before wrapping up the week at the Hiawatha Pow Wow. We're also looking forward to a Ribbon Skirt/Shirt making workshop coming up soon!

Reconciliation means more than acknowledgment — it means learning, listening, and showing up. The best way to deepen your understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures is through their own voices:

📖 Read books by Indigenous authors
🎶 Listen to music by Indigenous artists
🎬 Watch films and performances
📱 Follow First Nations, Inuit, and Métis creators on social media
🤝 Attend community events and gatherings

Every act of learning is a step toward reconciliation. 🧡

YES Shelter provides a safe haven for youth and families facing crisis - offering shelter, support, and pathways to stability for those who have nowhere else to turn. For many young people, it's a lifeline at the most vulnerable moment of their lives.

Join KX105 FM and the Tebey Golf Classic in supporting counselling for youth experiencing homelessness provided by YES Shelter for Youth and Families and Peterborough Youth Services.

For a young person without a home, every day is about survival. This leaves very little space to process the fear, loss, and trauma that can accompany homelessness. Counselling can help give them that space, and evidence shows that youth in a housing crisis who receive mental health support are more likely to find stable housing, maintain it, and rebuild their lives.

It's Workplace Wednesday! 🧡

Last weekend, staff and volunteers served up burgers hot off the grill as part of The Home Depot Foundation's bi-annual Orange Door Project; in the campaign, they raise money for our Transitional Housing Program via donations at the till when you checkout.

What made Saturday even more special was that every dollar raised was DOUBLED! 🍔🍔 We're so incredibly grateful for our local Home Depot and their continued support of helping youth transition out of homelessness. Donations at check out will be available until June 14th.
