As part of recognizing world su***de prevention day, we are sharing information about our new Skills for Safer Living program.

Skills for Safer Living is a twenty‑week, skills‑based group for individuals who have experienced at least one self‑identified su***de attempt. Participants learn practical strategies to recognize, interrupt, and change patterns related to su***de. The program is facilitated by a regulated professional and co‑facilitated by trained peer staff with lived‑experience expertise.

Please visit our website (cmhahkpr.ca/skills-for-safer-living) for more information, eligibility criteria, and enrollment details.

September is World Su***de Prevention Month, and today, September 10, is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Let today serve as a reminder of how we can change the narrative around su***de, reduce stigma, and create space for open, compassionate conversations. Remember, you are not alone.

If you are struggling, CMHA HKPR is here for you. We are a proud partner in the 9‑8‑8 Su***de Crisis Helpline — a national service for anyone in Canada who is thinking about su***de or worried about someone they know. Call or text 9‑8‑8 toll‑free, anytime, for support in English or French. Responders are here to listen and provide support without judgment.

This International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the people we’ve lost to overdose and the people who continue to carry that loss.

Behind every overdose statistic is a person. A friend. A neighbour. A loved one. Someone’s someone.
