In 2025, Peterborough County/City Paramedics, Peterborough County, and the Otonabee-South Monaghan Fire Department launched the Love Your Number campaign, reminding all residents how critical it is to keep their 9-1-1 civic address signs (also known as house number signs) visible and well maintained.
โœ… Is your address sign reflective?
โœ… Can it be seen from both directions?
โœ… Is it clear of brush, snow, or tree limbs?

These reminders apply to both rural & remote areas who use 9-1-1 blades with reflective numbering at the laneway entrance, as well as in urbanized settlements where house numbers are used.

When help is on the way, there are a few simple things you can do, if able, to help responders reach you faster:
๐Ÿ”“ Unlock doors
๐Ÿ’ก Turn on exterior lights
๐Ÿถ Secure pets
๐Ÿ’Š Have a list of medications ready

Your civic address sign helps get the right help to the right place, fast. Show your number some love today!

Do you have questions about your civic address signs? Reach out to your local township for more information and local by-laws!
