Are you looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful difference?

Lanark Lodge, a 163-bed long-term care home just outside of Perth on Christie Lake Road, is seeking expressions of interest to create a warm, welcoming café onsite. It is converting its main-floor "Tuck Shop" space and invites experienced operators to partner in this service.

The opportunity offers a reliable, built-in market: residents, staff, steady daily visitor traffic from family members, friends, and allied health professionals.

If you are interested in helping us to create a social hub that supports connection, enhances quality of life, and contributes to a positive experience for everyone who lives, works, and visits at Lanark Lodge, see more information, including the full Expression of Interest document, at https://www.lanarkcounty.ca/working/bidding-opportunities/ and respond as indicated in the document by June 28, 2026.

We hope to hear from you!

Lanark Lodge residents Mary, Louise and Bev had the chance to visit Mrs. James' Senior Kindergarten/Grade 1 class at Queen Elizabeth School recently!

The students are learning about the importance of community. The ladies had the chance to talk about living at Lanark Lodge and participate in some activities with the kids. They also dropped off some thank you lady bug decorations to the students for inviting us to their classroom. Thank you for inviting us!

TRAIL MAINTENANCE

Please note Lanark County will be applying calcium chloride to sections of the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail (OVRT) and Tay-Havelock Trail for dust suppression during the weeks of June 8 to 12 and June 15 to 19, 2026. The calcium chloride is diluted with water. It can cause some dryness on animal paws, but a quick rinse after exposure will reduce the chance of dry paws.

The trails will remain open during the process.

REDUCE SPEED IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES: Designated construction zones are established to reduce speed limits as a preventive measure to protect the safety and well-being of workers and motorists. The Highway Traffic Act gives municipalities authority to designate construction zones on roads in their jurisdictions and provides the ability to double fines for speeding in designated construction zones when workers are present. This makes it easier for municipalities to reduce enforceable speed limits.

Once designated by an authorized individual, a construction zone must be marked with signs in accordance with the regulation.

Please slow down and observe posted speeds in designated zones. Stay safe!

Lanark County is developing a new Transportation Master Plan (TMP). Much has changed since the previous TMP in 2010, and so the County requires a new plan to guide investment, address challenges, and support safe, efficient and equitable mobility for residents and visitors.

The TMP study considers components of the transportation system under County jurisdiction, and focuses on improving mobility for residents and visitors across all modes: walking, cycling, transit, driving and goods movement. The outcome will be a plan that is both actionable and aligned with the County’s vision for the future.

We are gathering input about transportation-related needs and priorities in the County, and need your help to confirm our transportation Vision and Goals. Join us for one of two information-sharing sessions:

Monday June 15, 2026 – 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Conlon Farm Chalet: 125 Smith Drive, Perth

Tuesday June 16, 2026 – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Beckwith Recreation Complex: 1319 9th Line Beckwith, Carleton Place

An online survey and detailed project presentation will be available from June 15th to July 12th 2026 for those who are unable to attend in person.

Avoid the bugs – and their bite!

Most of us know to practice sun safety during the summer, but sometimes we forget to protect against bug bites. Warm temperatures are just as appealing to insects as they are to Ontarians ready to leave a long winter behind.

Prevent Lyme disease and avoid bug bites this summer with these tips and tricks!
• Cover up – wear light, long, loose clothing
• Tuck shirts into pants and pants into shoes to prevent insects such as ticks from crawling on skin
• Use insect repellant that contains DEET
• Shower and wash clothing after being outdoors
• Use mosquito netting when sleeping outdoors
• Always do a thorough check for ticks after being outside
