June is Seniors Month! 🎉

This year’s theme is “Let’s Get Moving!”

Follow PEP this June for simple ways to stay active, energized, and moving every day.

Today’s Challenge

Have 3 movement snack breaks of 10 minutes each throughout your day. Any kind of physical activity counts — the goal is simply to keep moving!

Here are a few ideas to get started:

Take a brisk walk around your neighbourhood
Stretch while watching TV
Dance to your favourite songs
Garden or do light yard work
March in place during commercials

Every little bit of movement adds up and can help improve energy, balance, strength, and mood. Let’s get moving this June! 💙

We had a full day of learning at PEP today!

We started the day with Stacey Hickey, PT from Andrea Pickett Physiotherapy & Associates, who spoke on the topic “Walking for Longevity – Stepping into Big Benefits.” It was an engaging and insightful conversation about the many ways walking supports our health, mobility, functional strength, and overall longevity.

To wrap up the day, our amazing summer staff team launched their 6-week “Aging Well” series with their first presentation: Healthy Aging Basics. Each team member contributed a segment connected to their current field of study, and every client received a take-home handout highlighting the key points from the session.

What a beautiful day of learning, exploring, and expanding our knowledge together! 🧠

Grieving The Person Who Once Was

Caregiving for a loved one can bring emotional and physical challenges that are often unseen. Alongside daily responsibilities, caregivers may experience anticipatory grief — grieving the gradual loss of the person they once knew, even while they are still physically present.

This compassionate and supportive talk will explore the emotional impact of caregiving, including sadness, exhaustion, guilt, loneliness, and grief. Together, we will create a safe space to better understand these feelings and learn ways to navigate them with honesty, self-compassion, and care for both yourself and your loved one.

Helene Arts
Grief & Bereavement Coordinator, Hospice Hub

PEP – Seniors Therapeutic Centre is hosting a FOOD DRIVE in support of the Lanark Highlands Food Pantry!

Our friends at the Food Pantry are working hard to keep their shelves stocked with essential non-perishable food items and supplies for local families in need. As many in our community continue to face difficult times, we invite everyone to come together and help support one another.

Donations can be dropped off at PEP, located at 12 Elliott Street, Perth, during the week of June 8–12.

Most Needed Items:
• Non-perishable food items
• Baby food and formula
• Diapers
• Men’s and women’s hygiene products

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our rural community. PEP will deliver all donated items to the Lanark Highlands Food Pantry once the food drive concludes.

Thank you for your generosity and support!
