We’re inviting residents, landowners, and community groups to share places that matter to you—from forests and wetlands to habitat and cherished local spaces. Your insights will help us better understand the landscapes that make Lanark County special.

Be on alert for spotted lanternflies!

In August, late stage nymphs may be present. At this stage, spotted lanternflies are about 1.3 cm long and bright red with black legs and white spots on the legs and body. Adults could also be expected; about 2-3 cm long, they have pinkish-grey wings with black spots and black veins at the tips. When the forewings are open, the bright red underwings become visible (for example in flight). Egg masses can be found year-round – look for 2.5 cm-long greyish, dried mud-looking secretions on natural and artificial surfaces outdoors.
