way' PIB & snpink'tn the river channel had a few surprises. First a pair sleeping near Shingle creek, spoke to them, they were just crashed out, second a bag of garbage somebody picked up, lim limpt, third a bike that went to PDSCL.
Next we went up n'kwala meeting Dick Canning along the way, super nice knowledgeable guy, spoke about his recent book.
Steepest part of the climb up we encountered 2 trees down and no chainsaw. We took care of it the old school way, pulled and chopped with an axe. Got to the top, million dollar views, came down, muley buck along our way. Wet area in the saddle area gave us some tracks in the mud.
Drove the Old highway, all well out there.
Bear just off the KVR.
way' a great day on the land.

June 18 2026 The Okanagan Guardians started the day by visiting the burrowing owl location. Was nice to see the chicks doing well. Went up to Annie's Cabin. Didn't see any garbage on the road. Had to cut some trees on one road. Went up another but there was 4 fallen trees in one area so we turned around. The road there needs attention.Went down the Black Rock to Green Mountain Road. Saw no sign for deer or bear. Went to Apex Mountain. Went to Keremeous Creek and took some pictures. Did not see any wild animals such as deer or bear. Went on to Hedley /Nickel Plate FSR. Stopped when it got too rocky to drive further. Went back down to Green Mountain Road . Saw some cows on the road there. Went to Rattlesnake Springs and saw a guy parked there. We talked to him about how dry it was out and couple other things. He understood our message. Was nothing else to report. Was a good day on the Land.

way' PIB & snpink'tn, it was pretty good with trash so a good day that way. Did our rounds, yes had a helper today, Nate, knows his plants and birds. Some photos from today are his. Checked on a reported hurt Blue Heron, it seemed fine at the dam.
We went up and fed the owls, same going on, there were a few raptors flying around but they left by the time we left.
We drove Marron Valley, checked around the lake. Found an old big bear den. There is a tree behind the scales that a bear pulled apart, something caught its taste buds, see the claw marks?
Drove out onto Shingle creek then East towards the KVR via back roads and back.
Saw three bears today, big one in a hay field, a very blonde colored one with dark legs and head no photo, then a cinnamon bear.
way' a great day on the land.

The OKanagan Guardians started the day by going to see the fire at Kalamoir Park. It was still smoldering when we were there. We saw BC Forest Service members stationed there. We stopped at the Plaque honoring the workers who helped build the Bentley 4 Lane project near Summerland. There are several PIB band members listed on it. We continued onto Skaha on Eastside road where we spotted some Big Horn sheep at the Conservation area. Someone dumped yard waste and soil there, what a shame.
Continued onto Skaha Bluffs and spotted a tree the bear cubs were using to practice climbing. Took a picture of one of the cultural sites there. We spotted a hunting tree stand located just out of the park boundary. We spotted a doe with a fawn. We traveled the KVR on the Penticton to Summerland spur. We went to the trestle. We saw some hikers close to the Experimental research Center. They were having a great time. We saw a deer on Big Valley road. We continued onto Shingle Creek Road. We didn't see any garbage!
It was a great day on the Land.

We traveled on the 201 to Lower Campbell FSR to Upper Campbell. Then went to Wilkinson where it dead ends then turned around. We saw a bear on Wilkinson at the 2 km marker. way' PIB & snpink'tn got a bit of trash on the channel and at the end again, get tired of picking up after so called fishermen, old fishing line and drink cans.
Upper lower villages look great. Took a photo of a male Pheasant in flight.
Drove up and checked on the owls, still 8 eggs to hatch. Had a heard of horses run up and past me.
Drove Marron Valley rd and out onto the KVR.
Wanted to see how the pond looks up on TV mtn, its pretty low. Saw 2 horses drinking from it, I think it will be dry by the end of July and the animals will be heading down early.
Took some good photos of snpink'tn and n'kwala mtn, cool old tree and a tree with an old blaze on it.
way' a great day on the land.

The Okanagan Guardians started the day with a drive to Ok Falls to Willowbrook. At Green Lake we saw some people hiking and informed them that there were bears in the area. They said they were aware of it and introduced themselves. They were members of the Grasslands Convservation Counsel. We saw a bear nearby. We saw another bear and doe and fawn near Willowbrook. We took Marron Valley road and took some pictures of the Lake there. We continued on through to Shingle Creek road and didn't see any wild animals such as bear or deer. We saw horses sheltering under a few trees. We went to the Garnet valley Conservation area and took pictures of the marsh there. We went down the Fur Brigade trail. Theres lots of rocks on the road. Theres lots of black cap berries there. We took Monroe FSR to Darke Lake. There are lots of berries along the route. Cattle have been put there to graze as the gate is closed . The cattle guard is accessible. There was one camper at Darke Lake. We went in the KVR and never saw any garbage of motorized vehicles. Was a good day on the Land.

way' PIB & snpink'tn, well the channel was challenging today from North to South, dang at the parking lot trash beside the garbage cans. Then over on the point where people fish it was a mess.
Did see a few deer, small Gopher snake and an Osprey this morning. Cleaned up trash along Old Airport rd as well.
Got to hang out with Outma high school kids and teachers up at the owls, lim limpt for coming up. 3 more hatched. Looks like 8 warm eggs left to hatch, so they should finish this week. 9 hatched right now.
Drove out to Summerland and found folks parked where they shouldn't, asked them to move and they were good about it. Checked out above Skaha Hills Peach Pit area, all is well up there, siya-Saskatoon berries are ready in southern exposures areas.
way' a great day on the land.

way' PIB & snpink'tn, very quiet end to the week. The channel had minimal trash. A bit on Skaha beach, deer loving it there according to the tracks.
Went up and found the foal, she is moving so well on her feet, its such a relief. She is on the right side in the photo.
One tenter left their stuff behind on CP land, totally abandoned so it was taken down and recycled.
way' a great week on the land.
