The Penticton Lawn Bowling Club (PLBC) has been bringing people together since 1927. As the only club between Kelowna and Osoyoos, it offers a welcoming space where older adults can stay active, build friendships, and enjoy a little friendly competition.

With strong volunteer support and funding from the Community Foundation and others, the Club has recently upgraded its greens and clubhouse—improving accessibility, comfort, and safety, including the addition of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

As PLBC looks ahead to its 100th anniversary in 2027, it continues to create opportunities for connection across generations.

Kevin and Valery from the Foundation stopped by the Club’s recent open house, hosted with seven clubs from across the Interior, and connected with Grants Officer Graham Smith and Treasurer & Financial Secretary Peng Smith.

Thank you to Doane Grant Thornton LLP Penticton for their generous donation to the Community Foundation and for the opportunity to join their Walk Across Canada for Mental Health. The initiative encourages physical movement while raising funds and awareness for mental health across Canada. We walked, talked, and took a combined 56,500 steps that day.

Aspiring doctors from the South Okanagan Similkameen—this opportunity is for you.

The Trish and Phil Medical Bursary, established through the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen, is opening for its second year—offering multi-year financial support to help local students pursue medical school and return to practice in our region. The bursary is open to graduating students of high schools in Oliver, Osoyoos, and Penticton.

A required virtual info session will be held on Tuesday, April 28, where students will hear directly from local doctors, learn what the journey into medicine looks like, and get details about the bursary and application process.
