07-August-2026:

Dear Mr Larsen,

Thank you for your recent record amendment submissions and my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. The Commission is currently receiving an unprecedented number of queries from the public and it is taking us some time to fully investigate and respond to each case.

Please see more details on each query below:

Pilot Officer John Clark Loucks: We are unable to make a change to the spelling of P/O Loucks’ forename as this was confirmed as correct by his next-of-kin at his time of death. Additionally, P/O Loucks signed his own name within his service records as ‘John Clark Loucks.’ {Under appeal due to additional information that has surfaced]

Sergeant Daniel Hillar MacNeil: Casualty’s rank will be amended to ‘Flight Sergeant,’ along with the spelling of his last name on his headstone. F/Sgt MacNeil’s trade of ‘Navigator’ will also be added to his commemoration.

Pilot Officer Stanley Evan Sutherland: Sufficient evidence for change to rank from P/O to F/O.

Flying Officer Joseph Cletus Allen: Sufficient evidence for change to rank from F/O to P/O.

Warrant Officer Class I Herbert Thomas Campbell Burley: We are unable to make a change to this casualty’s listed name as his next-of-kin confirmed his details for commemoration at his time of death.

Please be advised, all amendments to casualty profiles will appear on our website in the coming days. Any headstone amendments will be actioned in line with our regional work teams’ schedules, which may take some time. You’re patience throughout this period is appreciated.

I’d like to thank you again for taking the time to submit these queries and for your support of the Commission’s work.

Kind regards,

23-November-2025 I submitted a request to the Municiplty of Eastern Charlotte's Mayor & Council requesting 2 additional names be added to the St. George War Memorial.

Sadly the said memorial stone has not returned to the community (sent for repairs mid-November-2025) as of yet.

Doubly sadly is that one of the families whose names we asked to be added will be passing through St. George this Friday.

07-June-2024, the darkest day in the history of the former Pennfield Ridge Air Station, a memorial stone(?) was erected on what once was hallow ground. The said ground has been desecrated as the said memorial stone(?) contains numerous mistakes, errors and omissions (almost 40 years of research shows this to be true). And it now appears more desecration is pending...

07-June-1942: Body of Cecilia "Bernice" Connors was discovered, more than 40 hours after she was last seen alive, hidden under moss in field off the Deadman's Harbour Road, Blacks Harbour.
