🔴 HONOURING RED DRESS DAY 🔴
Today, Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County honours Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.
The harm we recognize today is profound. It reflects systemic failures that have left many families without safety, protection, or answers. These impacts continue to be felt across generations.
Recent efforts to recover loved ones have brought renewed attention to the depth of this harm. Families continue to face delays in justice, dignity, and the ability to bring their loved ones home. These are reminders that these systemic failures are not only historical, but ongoing.
We remember those who are missing and those who have been taken. We honour the strength of families and communities who carry this loss every day.
We recommit ourselves to listening, learning, and taking meaningful action. Our work must support dignity, safety, and healing for Indigenous children, families, and communities.
