Our Board offers a full range of academic programs in a caring and nurturing environment that encourages our students to achieve their personal best, while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in their daily lives. Located in Eastern Ontario, 100 kilometres northwest of Ottawa, RCCDSB covers a largely rural area with a low population density. We have 21 schools in 14 communities, providing education for more than 4700 students. Our multi-year strategic plan is aligned with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s four key goals—to achieve excellence, ensure equity, promote well-being and enhance public confidence. We are dedicated to supporting our students’ academic success by providing extensive professional development, the latest in e-learning classroom technologies, as well as innovative special education and alternative learning programs that are based on best practices that respond to students’ specific needs. As well, we are pleased to report that our students have consistently outscored the provincial average in Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) testing. Everyone in our Board—from school trustees to administrators, principals, teachers and support staff—works as a team to provide a safe, caring and respectful environment to support student success, close gaps in individual learning and increase public confidence in our school system. We encourage the input and involvement of our parents, families, parishioners and clergy, as well as members of the greater community in our education system. We work hard to make our Board relevant and responsive to the needs of our community.

The Shelter-in-Place ordered by the Deep River Police Service has been lifted. St. Mary's OLGC Catholic School, Deep River will reopen tomorrow, September 11, 2026. School bus transportation will also operate on its normal routes and schedules.

In addition, our board mental health and wellness team will be on site along with a staff member from Victim Services to support staff and students during this challenging time.

If your child will not be at school, please be sure to inform the main office at 613-584-3567. You can leave a message at any time.

Due to the Shelter-in-Place issued by the Deep River Police Service and the ongoing safety concern, bus transportation to St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Chalk River is cancelled today, September 10th, 2026. However, St. Anthony’s School remains open.

Good morning, RCCDSB Families,

Due to the Shelter-in-Place issued by the Deep River Police Service and the ongoing safety concern, St. Mary’s OLGC School will be closed to students and staff today, September 10th, 2026.

Buses have also been cancelled.

We will provide an update later this afternoon about the plan for tomorrow.
