Shana Tova to everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah.

The Jewish New Year begins today, September 11, at sundown and continues until sundown on Sunday, September 13. RCDSB acknowledges Rosh Hashanah in our Priority Days Calendar.

Rosh Hashanah is a time of celebration, reflection and togetherness, often marked with festive meals and symbolic foods like apples dipped in honey for a sweet year ahead.

Love it 😍, it’s great to see multiple generations of Killaloe Public School learners!

It was an inter generational celebration at the Killaloe Public School Open House!

Look carefully, both Emmett and Granny (you might recognize her as Mrs. Chippior) are wearing their KPS shirts!

It was a great evening all around, thanks for coming out!

The Shelter-in-Place status in Deep River has been lifted by local authorities. Our school, Mackenzie Community School, Deep River will be open tomorrow with regular classes and normal bus routes.

Extra mental health support will be on hand for any student or staff member who needs it. Staff will be watching closely for anyone who needs extra care today.

Good morning, RCDSB Parents,

Due to the Shelter-in-Place issued by the Deep River Police Service and the ongoing safety concern, Mackenzie Community School will be closed to students and staff today.

Buses in the Deep River area have also been cancelled.

We will provide an update later this afternoon about the plan for tomorrow.

Today is International Literacy Day.

This year’s theme, “Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity,” speaks to how reading and writing shape more than a classroom. They shape how people understand their communities, care for the world around them and build a future for themselves.

At RCDSB, that work starts early, with staff sitting down one on one with students, working through the letters and the words.

Take a moment today to read with a child, share a favourite book or simply talk about a story that shaped you.

Here’s what was inside the time capsule discovered at Arnprior District High School. Staff and students buried it back in 2000-01, and digging it out from under a huge stone was no small task.
