June is National Indigenous History Month, and our Indigenous Education team has made it one to remember.

Student artwork is coming to Pembroke Mall, and you won’t want to miss it.

From June 11 to 13, artwork created by students from across the district will be on display as part of the RCDSB Art Challenge 2025-26: Connection.

Our students worked with Algonquin artist Peter Purdy and instructional coach Melanie Bertrand, exploring themes of self, land, community, culture, ancestors and stories through the study of Indigenous artists, then creating original pieces inspired by that journey.

All are welcome. Admission is free.

🌿 Today is World Environment Day, and across Renfrew County, our students are living proof that the next generation of environmental stewards is already here.

From forest classrooms to composting bins, from outdoor lessons in the snow to hands-on experiments with soil and seeds, RCDSB students and staff are doing the work every day. Not just on June 5. Every day.

At Regional and National level Science Fair, students brought forward bold ideas for a more sustainable future, from drip irrigation and biodegradable products to green alternatives to road salt and even sustainable leather made from kombucha tea. The thinking happening in our schools is remarkable.

At Renfrew Collegiate Institute, that commitment has grown into something truly special. What began as a standard cooking classroom has become a thriving food recovery and shared kitchen programme, led by teacher Mike Wright. Students are reducing food waste, feeding their community and building lasting memories of giving back.

We are proud to learn in a region where nature isn’t a field trip destination. It’s our backyard, our classroom and our community.

Happy World Environment Day from all of us at RCDSB. 💚

Reading. Writing. Math.

They sound simple. But mastering them early changes everything.

This September, Ontario’s new Kindergarten curriculum puts these foundations front and centre, with phonics-based reading instruction that has been proven to help children decode words and build confidence.

Your child’s School Kindergarten Open House is the best place to learn what this looks like in the classroom. If your child was born in 2022, they are ready for Kindergarten.

Meet the staff. See the classrooms.

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, at Admaston Public School.
