FALL LARGE ITEM COLLECTION:
Collection of large household goods is happening this week September 14 to September 18 for residential properties in the Township of Laurentian Valley ON YOUR REGULAR COLLECTION DAY. Residents are reminded that scavenging materials that are set out for large item collection is not permitted under Municipal By-Laws.
Items must be sorted into FOUR separate piles for collection by multiple trucks:
SCRAP METAL ITEMS & NON-FREON METAL APPLIANCES
οΌ BBQs, stainless steel sinks, bikes, exercise equipment, microwaves and non-freon metal appliances (oven, washer, dryer, dishwasher).
FREON APPLIANCES
οΌ Fridges, freezers, air conditioners, water coolers, dehumidifiers. Freon does not have to be removed. Remove lids and doors from fridges/freezers. Remove contents (i.e. food) from fridges/freezers.
ACCEPTABLE LARGE ITEMS
οΌ Artificial Christmas Trees (REMOVE FROM CARDBOARD BOX)
οΌ Box springs and mattresses
οΌ Broken garbage cans, plastic totes, etc. (Must be labeled βFor Collectionβ)
οΌ Carpets and underlay
οΌ Furniture (desks, couches)
οΌ Luggage & hockey bags larger than 9β x 14β x 22β
οΌ Mops, brooms, shovels & rakes (non-metal)
οΌ Plastic β Large, bulky household plastic items (childrenβs swimming pools, lawn chairs, outdoor toys)
οΌ Pool covers
ELECTRONIC WASTE
οΌ TVβs, computers, radios, speakers
Residents are reminded of the other set out requirements for large item collection:
β’ Items NOT accepted:
o Items smaller than 9β x 14β x 22β or items that can fit into a standard garbage bag.
o Material placed out in cardboard boxes.
o Material in garbage bags/containers/cans. Large quantities of garbage bags do not qualify as acceptable large item material.
o Construction and Renovation material such as toilets, windows and doors.
o Wood (i.e. lumber, plywood, etc.) and wooden pallets.
o Tires and hazardous waste such as propane tanks, paint cans and fluorescent light bulbs.
o Clothing and textiles.
o Items that are not sorted properly into separated piles.
β’ Size & Weight Requirements:
o Acceptable materials must be manageable by two people
o Maximum weight: 80 lbs
o Maximum size: 27 cubic feet and 6 feet long.
β’ Be Sure to:
o Remove batteries and flammable liquids.
o Keep items that are not meant for collection well separated from acceptable large item materials.
o Remove any unacceptable items immediately.
