The Pembroke Professional Fire Fighters Association is proud to support the next generation of firefighters by awarding bursaries to our co-op students Nic Henry and Adam Martens, who are pursuing their Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training this fall.

These 2 bursaries were made possible through the generosity and legacy of retired firefighter Glen Clarke (1963-1993), whose dedication to the fire service and his community, continued long after his retirement.

Following his passing, a portion of the donations made in his memory were entrusted to us to help create opportunities for aspiring firefighters taking the next step towards their firefighting career.

We thank the family of Brother Clarke for the donation and we know he would be proud to see it being used in this way.

All the best Adam and Nic, you’ve set the bar high!

Today’s the last day for our 2026 Co-op students. Good luck to these two fine gentlemen as they go on to the preservice Firefighting program at Fleming this fall. They exceeded all expectations and truly set themselves apart as some of the best students we have had the pleasure to work with! Exceptional work guys! ⚠️ Did you know Ontario updated its carbon monoxide alarm requirements?
▪️As of January 1, 2026, homes with a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage are required to have carbon monoxide alarms installed on EVERY storey of the home.
👉🏻Carbon monoxide is invisible, odourless, and deadly, but working alarms provide an early warning that can save lives.
✅ Test your alarms monthly
✅ Replace batteries as required or when the alarm "chirps"
✅ Check the expiry date on your alarms

⚠️ Please remember, if you or a loved one are using any kind of Oxygen Concentrator to assist with breathing, do not smoke or have any open flames near by.
▪️Oxygen machines not only supply a person with concentrated oxygen, but enrich the surrounding area with it too.
The air around a user, even their hair and clothes become enriched with oxygen well above that of normal breathing air, and thus will burn much more vigorously and quickly than normal. This can lead to severe burn injuries, and even cause an active fire to spread to your surroundings and put your home at risk.
👉🏻Also, the same risks can come from using e-cigarettes. The heating element used to vaporize the liquid solution within, or a small spark from a faulty battery or charging cord, could lead to ignition of the oxygen saturated air near by.
‼️Never smoke or keep lit candles near you when using an Oxygen Concentrator.
