Coldham Road Opens to One-Way Traffic

Coldham Road opens one-way up from Trepanier Bench Road to Desert Pines Avenue.

The full road closure on Coldham Road will be complete and one-way traffic flow (up from Trepanier Bench Road to Desert Pines Avenue) will be implemented by 7:00 pm, Friday, June 12th, 2026.

The District of Peachland is pleased to share that approximately $1 million in infrastructure improvements will be completed along Coldham Road as part of a new 5-lot subdivision project at 5371 Coldham Road. These developer-funded upgrades will enhance safety, accessibility, and long-term service reliability in the area, and include:

- New sidewalks along the property frontage

- Installation of streetlights

- Watermain extension and installation of additional hydrants

- Storm water infrastructure extensions

- Road restoration

At its meetings on June 9, Council endorsed in principle the Peachland Climate Action Plan developed by the Peachland Climate Action Task Force. Council also gave first reading of the OCP Bylaw stemming from the Minor OCP Review project and amendment bylaws to pave the way for the development of a new firehall on San Clemente Avenue. Peachland Mayor Patrick Van Minsel announced today that the District has awarded a design and construction contract for the new Peachland Firehall and that a groundbreaking will take place soon. Peachland Council has awarded the design-build contract to Chandos Construction LP, working in partnership with Sahuri + Associates Architecture.

“This long-awaited facility is one of the Council’s top priorities and represents a significant investment in public safety and emergency preparedness for our community,” said Mayor Van Minsel. “This is a major milestone for Peachland, and we look forward to seeing construction begin soon.”

The new 17,000-square-foot fire hall will be built on the land assembled for the new firehall at 4223 San Clemente Avenue adjacent to 13th Street, an important entrance to the community from Highway 97.

The project is well positioned to be delivered under the approved maximum budget of $17.5 million including land purchases, all past and future consulting and design services, and all construction. Detailed design of the new firehall will start immediately, with final building permit approvals anticipated for January 2027. While the project designs and permitting are in progress, the demolition of the existing building is anticipated for August 2026. The new Peachland Firehall is expected to be operational no later than December 31, 2028.

Trepanier Bench Road/Highway 97 brief intersection closure tonight, June 9th . The Ministry of Transportation and Transit requires the closure of the Desert Pines Avenue and Trepanier Bench Road exit onto Highway 97 from 8 pm to 10 pm. All traffic will be detoured via Huston Road to access Highway 97. Motorists are asked to watch for traffic personnel and follow all signage to help ensure a safe environment for the public and construction crews.

June 1, 2026 - The Coldham Road closure / Dryden Road detour has been extended to June 12th. The Coldham Road closure will not be extended beyond June 12th, and the District is working with the developer to open the road as soon as possible while maintaining public and worker safety

March 20, 2026 - The District of Peachland is pleased to share that approximately $1 million in infrastructure improvements will be completed along Coldham Road as part of a new 5-lot subdivision project at 5371 Coldham Road. These developer-funded upgrades will enhance safety, accessibility, and long-term service reliability in the area, and include:
New sidewalks along the property frontage
Installation of streetlights
Watermain extension and installation of additional hydrants
Storm water infrastructure extensions
Road restoration
To safely complete this work, Coldham Road will be temporarily closed from March 20 to May 8. Due to the size of the excavation, equipment required and limited road width, there is not enough space to safely accommodate traffic alongside construction.

The Traffic Control Professionals have confirmed that a full closure is the safest approach to protect workers and the public. All traffic, including pedestrians, emergency services, school buses and waste/recycling collection, will be detoured during this period. Detour routes are shown on the map below.

We appreciate your patience as these important improvements are completed. Please follow all posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel.
