Please join us in welcoming home our firefighters who have been away from their families and community while deployed to assist with wildfire operations. 🇨🇦

We’re incredibly proud of their dedication and professionalism while supporting communities affected by wildfires in BC. Deployments like these are a true reminder of the commitment our volunteer firefighters make—not only to our own community, but to communities across the province.

It was an honour to work alongside many other Vancouver Island based departments, as well as the local departments in the affected communities.

Thank you for answering the call, putting in the long hours, and representing our department with pride. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Tender 261 is working in the Summerland area, assisting BC Wildfire Service with structure protection efforts and wild fire suppression. The crew of two has been busy actioning fires and assisting their task force with water supply.

Did you know: tenders are a valuable resource in rural communities where there aren't hydrants. Holding up to 2500 gallons of water, a tender can supply other types of fire apparatus such as engines and bush trucks, and also fill water bladders that provide water to sprinkler systems on at-risk structures.

🚒 Deployment Update!

Our first crew is now back home after two weeks for some much needed rest. Crew 1 worked on the Felker Lake Fire near Williams Lake and were then redeployed to Clinton to assist on the Big Bar Complex wildfire.

Crew 2 is currently in the Clinton area working along side other Island based departments as the Big Bar Complex wildfire is still classified as out of control.

On Saturday BC Wildfire Service requested a water tender from our department. Tender 261 and its crew of two have now been deployed to the Summerland area to assist on that fire. Please join us in wishing them a safe deployment and return home.

While Errington and our surrounding communities may not be facing an immediate wildfire threat, many communities across British Columbia are.

We can all do our part to help prevent human-caused wildfires and support the firefighters working tirelessly to protect people, homes, and our forests. ❤️🚒

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽:

✅ Check for fire bans and restrictions before lighting a campfire.
✅ Avoid parking on dry grass—hot vehicles can start fires.
✅ Be mindful when using equipment that creates sparks.
✅ If you're exploring B.C., stay informed and follow local wildfire restrictions.
✅ Download the BC Wildfire Service app to your smartphone. You can view current wildfire activity, fire bans and alerts, and report a wildfire directly through the app.

🔥 Nearly 40% of wildfires in B.C. are caused by people—and many are preventable.

Every small action helps protect our forests, our communities, and the firefighters working across our province.

Effective at 12:00 p.m. (noon) PDT on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Category 1, 2 and 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with exceptions for Category 1 campfires in parts of the North Island and Sunshine Coast.

Category 1 campfires will remain permitted in the Campbell River Forest District, North Island Central Coast Forest District, Haida Gwaii Forest District and Sunshine Coast Forest District. These areas are currently experiencing different weather and fuel conditions than other parts of the Coastal Fire Centre, with fire danger ratings and fire weather indices indicating a lower wildfire risk at this time.

Conditions are continually monitored, and restrictions are implemented where they are needed most to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and help protect communities, responders and our forests.
