The EVFD is aware of a fire in the Fisher Rd/Evan Rd areas. BC Wildfire is taking action along with Mosaic crews.
The EVFD will continue to monitor this situation.

🚒 Supporting Our Wildfire Partners 🚒

This week, members of the Errington Volunteer Fire Department visited the Coastal Fire Centre to donate our previous thermal imaging cameras to the BC Wildfire Service. 🔥

While these cameras have been replaced with newer technology for frontline use at EVFD, they still have plenty of life left and will continue to serve an important purpose helping wildfire crews in the field.

Thermal imaging cameras assist firefighters by detecting heat sources, locating hidden hot spots, improving visibility in smoky conditions, and enhancing firefighter safety during operations.

We’re grateful for the ongoing partnership between local fire departments and the BC Wildfire Service as we all work together to help protect our communities and forests. 🌲

🚨 Congratulations to Errington resident Chris Crossley! 🚨

Chris correctly answered the question in the EVFD Spring Newsletter and won a gift certificate generously donated by Departure Bay Pizza! 🍕

Chris is also taking important steps to reduce wildfire risk at his home on the edge of the forest. Along with FireSmarting his property, he is upgrading all roofing materials to fire-resistant metal roofing. 🔥🏠

Why does this matter? During a wildfire, wind-driven embers can land on rooftops and gutters, quickly igniting combustible roofing materials or dry debris like leaves and pine needles. Roof ignition remains one of the leading causes of home loss during wildfires.

Homes with non-combustible roofing, such as metal roofs, are far more likely to survive wildfire events. ✅
