Time to dust off those cowboy hats and boots!

Today and tomorrow is the 807 Bulls and Barrels, and the Oxdrift Fire Team was up bright and early volunteering to help get things ready for the big event.

Firefighters were out wetting down the arena to help keep the dust down and make sure the arena was ready for all the action.

Were excited to support this event and can't wait to see you out there!

As students head back to school this week, the Oxdrift Fire Team want to wish all the kids, parents, teachers, and school staff a safe and successful school year!

With school buses back on our roads, here are a few important reminders for drivers:

Stop for school buses. When a school bus has its lights flashing and stop arm extended, come to a complete stop and remain stopped until the lights stop flashing and the bus begins moving.

Give buses plenty of space. Never pass a stopped school bus or attempt to drive around it.

Watch for children. Kids may be excited, distracted, or unpredictable when getting on or off the bus. Slow down and be prepared to stop near bus stops and school zones.

Leave yourself extra time. School traffic can mean more buses, pedestrians, and vehicles on the road. Plan accordingly and don't rush.

The Oxdrift Fire Team proudly supported this year's 119th Fall Fair!

Firefighters worked behind the scenes wetting down the riding arena between events keeping the dust down giving spectators unobstructed view of the show.

For Immediate Release: Dryden Fire Service Achieves Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation

As of August 26, 2026 - Effective August 8, 2026, Dryden Fire Service has achieved Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation for alternative water supply for public fire protection

Thank you to Oxdrift Fire Team for supporting us with additional tanker trucks through the Provincial Mutual Aid Program, and the City of Dryden Water Department for the water supply.

Congratulations to the members of the Dryden Fire Service for being the first fire department in Northwestern Ontario to achieve this rating!

Attention City of Dryden Residents!

Firefighter Training in Progress on August 8, 2026 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

During this time, residents may notice increased emergency vehicle traffic running from Scott Street to Lyle Road. Firefighters will use emergency lights and sirens during this specific training. There is no emergency; please reduce speed and pull over for firefighters.

Note: Hydrants will be in use. While the water supply remains safe to use, there may be temporary low water pressure or discoloured water due to hydrant use.

🚨MVC🚨 3/8/2026 19:30

Emergency crews from Oxdrift Fire, EMS, and Police responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 665 involving multiple occupants.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and disconnected the battery to eliminate electrical hazards, ensuring the scene was safe for responders and patients. EMS assessed the occupants on scene, and fortunately only minor injuries were reported.

Crews left the scene at 20:30. Use caution on Hwy 665 as Tow removes the vehicle.

Fire crews remain on standby as severe storms continue to move through our area.

Firefighters from Oxdrift and Dryden have been working alongside Hydro One and the MNRF to extinguish spot fires caused by trees coming into contact with hydro lines.

Crews remain vigilant as we experience a higher then normal call volume.
