🚒 Firefighters from the Owen Sound Fire Department will be out in the northeast section of the city throughout the summer months as part of the annual Home Visitation Program.

This long-running program helps build a safer, more connected community by giving residents the opportunity to speak directly with firefighters about fire prevention, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, home escape planning, and emergency preparedness.

Firefighters will be visiting homes in the late afternoon and early evening wearing Owen Sound Fire Department clothing and may ask to check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to help ensure homes are protected in the event of an emergency.

Residents are encouraged to say hello, ask questions, and learn more about Ontario’s updated carbon monoxide alarm requirements now in effect for 2026.

“Community safety is built on trust, education, and meaningful connection.” – Mayor Ian Boddy

🎶 Mid-Week Music in Owen Sound! 🎶

Need a little boost to get you through the week? Enjoy live music, talented, experienced musicians, and great vibes right here in Owen Sound! 🎤✨

Grab some friends and your lawn chair and make Wednesday your new favourite night of the week. We kick off Mid Week Music with Rock The Sound Choir in the front plaza of Owen Sound City Hall (808 2nd Ave E) sponsored by Owen Sound Gardens, Engaged Financial Inc., Zoomer 92.3 FM The Original Greatest Hits and Country 93

Rock the Sound Choir is a community-based choir in Owen Sound directed by Holly Sled. The choir was originally organized in 2012 by local musician Tara MacKenzie and has grown into an inclusive group for singers of all experience levels. They put a fresh spin on popular music, performing songs from genres like classic rock, pop, modern music, funk, soul, and more with rich vocal harmonies. The group welcomes singers who simply love music — no matter their experience level.

For Mid-Week Music, Rock the Sound Choir brings that big community sound to the stage — a great reminder that music is about connection, creativity, and having fun together.

SHARE THE ROAD: We know that both cyclists and motorists are out and about enjoying the roads in Grey County this summer. 🚴🏼‍♀️ A quick reminder that road safety is everyone's responsibility. When we all follow the same rules, actions become predictable, and everyone stays safe. When being passed by motorists, cyclists are required to ride as tight and to the right as safely possible. When passing cyclists, motorists / drivers are required to leave a minimum of 1 metre of space. Pass slow and with caution. Together, we can make our roads safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
