The Markdale Adult Day Program had a blast mixing up homemade BBQ rubs for the dads and father figures in their lives. There was plenty of fun, laughter, and delicious smells throughout the day!

🌈Staff had a blast at the sunny Pride Parade in Owen Sound on Saturday. It felt so great to have HCSS in the parade for the first time. We'll definitely be back next year!

Big thanks to Ken for driving the bus, and to our Adult Day Program staff and clients that worked on decorations last week... it all looked amazing 🤩

🎉 Over $215,000 Invested in Communities Across Grey Bruce! 🎉

Community Foundation Grey Bruce is proud to announce the recipients of our 2026 Spring Community Grants program.

This year, 75 organizations applied, requesting more than $320,000 in funding. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and fund holders, $215,275 has been awarded to 52 community projects that will strengthen communities across Grey and Bruce Counties.

From arts and culture, environmental stewardship, and youth engagement to mental wellness, accessibility, food security, and community connection, these projects reflect the incredible work being done by local organizations every day.

Last week we shared highlights from our Adult Day Program training day, and here is a closer look at one of the activities 🧠🎨 During this PAC-led exercise, staff were asked to close their eyes and follow simple drawing instructions while loud music was playing. The exercise was then repeated in a quiet setting with more detailed instructions.

Experiencing the same activity in different environments helped staff see how communication style and surroundings can impact accessibility. It was a powerful reminder of how important clear, thoughtful direction is when supporting clients during our activities.

💪🎉 Strengthening our Adult Day Program, together!

On Tuesday, June 2, Adult Day Program (Day Away) staff from all HCSS Grey-Bruce locations came together for a day of training and appreciation. A key highlight was hands-on training in using resistance bands during exercise time with clients, giving staff new, safe, and adaptable ways to support movement and strength.

Thanks to funding from Participaction June Community Challenge grant, this training will significantly expand exercise options within our Adult Day Program. Staff now have more tools to offer engaging, scalable resistance exercises that support strength, balance, mobility, and independence for clients.

A big thank you to Dr. Nick Centritto for leading this informative and practical training, and to ParticipACTION for investing in programs that help improve health and well-being in our community. This grant will have a lasting impact on daily programming and client outcomes across Grey-Bruce. 💙

We deliver nutritious hot and frozen meals directly to your door, supporting individuals facing physical, cognitive, or financial challenges. No cooking required, just balanced, ready-to-enjoy meals.
💲 Financial Accessibility
Subsidies are available to help make our services accessible to those who need extra financial support.
👋 Friendly Visiting
We help reduce isolation by making it easier for individuals to stay socially connected from the comfort of their homes.
🧹 Housekeeping Support
Our housekeeping services support adults and seniors who are unable to manage tasks at home... helping them live safely and comfortably for longer.
🌙 Overnight Respite
We provide accessible overnight respite care in a safe, welcoming environment for adults living with cognitive impairments, dementia, neurological conditions, and other care needs... offering relief and peace of mind for caregivers.
