PHILIPPINE EMBASSY VISITS ROYAL CANADIAN MINT

4 September 2026, Ottawa- A delegation from the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, led by Ambassador Jose Victor V. Chan-Gonzaga, visited the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) to learn more about its coin-production operations and explore possible areas of cooperation.

The visit built on the five-year Memorandum of Understanding signed by the RCM and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in January 2025, which established cooperation in currency management and gold refining, including technology and personnel exchanges, sustainable and cost-effective currency production, gold processing, and commemorative coin production.

The delegation toured the Mint’s Ottawa facility and met with members of its leadership team, including Interim President and CEO Simon Kamel; Chief Commercial Officer Tom Froggatt; Vice-President for Operations Jean-Laurent Rousset; Vice-President for Corporate Security and Information Technology James Malizia; and Acting Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary Andrea Kniewasser.

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views on the Mint’s capabilities, international services, and potential avenues for future engagement. END

Applicants who wish to submit their application for dual citizenship, may drop off their application with complete requirements and the corresponding fee in bank draft/postal money order payable to EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES. The documents will be processed at a later date and applicants will be notified of the status of their application.

RELEASING of documents:

For consularized documents, civil registration documents and processed NBI forms, the applicant may opt to personally pick-up the document AFTER 3-5 days.

If a representative is picking up the document on the applicant's behalf, the representative must bring:

✅ original government-issued ID and photocopy
✅ original authorization letter which states the applicant's full name and ORIGINAL signature and name of the representative as shown on the government-issued ID to be presented

If the individual opted to have the documents mailed to them, the applicant must provide a pre-paid mailing envelope.

Expedited service will NOT be available at this time.

AMBASSADOR CHAN-GONZAGA MEETS WITH JUNO INDUSTRIES TO EXPLORE COOPERATION IN DEFENCE, MARITIME SECURITY, DISASTER RESPONSE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS

02 September 2026, Ottawa – Philippine Ambassador to Canada Jose Victor V. Chan-Gonzaga met yesterday with former Canadian Minister of National Defense and Minister of International Development Harjit Sajjan who is now the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Juno Industries. The meeting served to explore potential areas of Juno’s engagement in the Philippines. Ms. Tania Belisle-Leclerc, Juno Industries’ Vice-President of Strategy, and the Embassy First Secretary Alexander Joseph A. Estomo also participated in the meeting.

Mr. Sajjan highlighted his longstanding personal and professional ties with the Philippines, including his previous visits to the country while serving in the Canadian Government. He underscored the importance of the strong people-to-people relationship between the Philippines and Canada and expressed his interest in building on these connections through his current work in the private sector.

AMBASSADOR CHAN-GONZAGA GRACES 23RD ANCOP WALK IN OTTAWA

1 September 2026, Ottawa — Philippine Ambassador to Canada José Victor V. Chan-Gonzaga graced the 23rd ANCOP Walk held at Andrew Haydon Park in Ottawa as keynote speaker, on 29 August 2026.

Organized by ANCOP International Canada, the annual fundraising event supports programs aimed at improving the lives of impoverished children and families through education, housing, healthcare, and community development.

In his remarks, Ambassador Chan-Gonzaga highlighted the Filipino spirit of bayanihan and the important role of Filipinos overseas in supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being and development of communities in the Philippines. He congratulated ANCOP International Canada, its volunteers, sponsors, donors, and partners for sustaining the initiative for more than two decades.

Ambassador Chan-Gonzaga also encouraged the Filipino-Canadian community to remain connected with the Philippines through meaningful engagement and initiatives that support Filipino communities back home.
