Today we mark the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day, celebrating the traditions, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
DCC is also reflecting on our role in advancing reconciliation and encouraging employees to deepen their understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives.
Across the country, Indigenous businesses are engaging in federal procurement, building capacity, and contributing to defence infrastructure projects. We’re working to remove barriers and create clearer pathways so more businesses can participate and grow.
In 2025–2026, 17% of DCC’s total contract value—over $262 million—was awarded to Indigenous businesses through contracting or subcontracting. Behind that number are partnerships, opportunities, and progress toward economic reconciliation.
We’re also investing in the future—supporting Indigenous students through the Indspire Bursary and creating spaces for connection through ongoing networking with Indigenous partners and stakeholders.
Throughout June, our Diversity and Inclusion team is sharing resources and stories to help employees deepen their understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives.
The work does not stop there.
