Meet the real mariners of our coral reefs. 🐢🌊

Did you know that Barbados is home to one of the most successful sea turtle conservation programs in the Caribbean?

Our waters are teeming with Hawksbill, Green and Leatherback turtles, making almost every swim a potential wildlife encounter.

When visiting our underwater paradise, remember to look, admire and give these beautiful locals plenty of space to breathe.

Join us today for the next lecture in our series, BARBADOS UNCOVERED: Exploring Global Connections Across the Atlantic World, 1640-1840.

This evening’s topic: “Barbados and the Inter-Colonial Exchange with Boston, East New Jersey, and Newport,” presented by Dr. Seth Kamil.

Barbados was central to the formation of early inter-colonial trading networks within the Americas. Boston, East New Jersey, and Newport were three major entrepôts that developed sophisticated exchange systems to feed the sugar empire of Barbados and then throughout the Atlantic World. This presentation will compare the three North American regions and their economic and capital engagement with Barbados.
