With Citizen's automatic traffic enforcement. This will soon be a thing of the past for Ottawa streets.
When police were plentiful we made changes to how community policing was done. We left the experienced and trained professionals handle the difficult and potentially hazardous work.
Now police staffing in Ottawa is at all time low. The idea of community policing is all but removed, and already stretched thin assets are being pulled away for important but not immediately life threating tasks.
So what's the solution?
Our view is to help people help police and self police what's important to them.
We do not want the general public to be judge, jury and executioner, but we should make it easier and more legally sound, to report evidence and take initiative in solving criminal activity.
Inaction is what makes crime flourish. All the good intentions, words from politicians, the 'we don't have the budget's, 'we don't have the means', means nothing when life is lost from that inaction.
Technology is a great equalizer. You just need to use it and enable people to help themselves.
Looking forward to serving in the future. No one should have to be suffer because of others ignorance, negligence or lack of care.
