Principal, Kaja Cerveny OALA, CSLA, has over 25 years of design and placemaking experience as a landscape architect and project manager in cities across Canada and the US. As prime consultant and multi-disciplinary team member, Kaja has completed many successful and award-winning City of Ottawa projects such as Winston Square, Parkdale Park & Fieldhouse and the Wellington and Somerset Street West Reconstruction. A skilled collaborator, Kaja works with clients, and design professionals to build consensus and establish a shared vision among diverse interests while maintaining the utmost level of design integrity. - identification and assessment of landscape features including; site topography, drainage, soils, vegetation, heritage and cultural elements.
- evaluation of on-site vegetation and recommendations for protection, enhancement and environmental restoration; slope stabilization and reforestation.
- site analysis (assessment of opportunities and constraints; matching user requirements to site conditions).
- identification and analysis of user requirements.
- assessment of universal accessibility and recommendations for modifying sites to achieve OADA, code and client requirements.
- schematic and concept design.
- illustration of design development proposals with rendered plans, sections, elevations, details and perspective drawings.
- contract document preparation (technical drawings including grading, layout and planting plans, and supportive construction detailing for site elements such as landscape restoration, trails and pathways, plazas, retaining walls, irrigation systems, sports fields, and tree and shrub plantings).
- construction supervision, progress inspections, maintenance and warranty evaluation.
