ICA Montreal celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day in Montreal.
India in Canada (High Commission of India, Ottawa) was represented by DHC, who highlighted India's strength in the world today and its target of becoming a Viksit Bharat 2047.

Prime Minister Hon. Mark Carney’s greetings were read out, with Honourable MP Sameer Zuberi, Mayor of Saint-Laurent Alan DeSousa and Councillor DDO Pulkit Kantawala also gracing the occasion, along with large numbers from the local community.

In his address, he shared key highlights of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi’s address from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The cultural programme, with children at the heart of it added joy to the celebrations.

High Commissioner Shri Dinesh K. Patnaik hoisted the Tiranga at Ottawa City Hall’s Marion Dewar Plaza on Independence Day, organised by the India Canada Association.

In his remarks he called on the diaspora to let India’s best come through in how they live and contribute here in Canada, and to be a force for good. Cultural performances added to the occasion.

India in Canada (High Commission of India, Ottawa) marked the 80th Independence Day with great pride and enthusiasm.

The celebrations began with the singing of 'Vande Mataram', National Song of India, followed by the hoisting of the Tiranga by High Commissioner Shri Dinesh K. Patnaik and the singing on the National Anthem, followed by reading of excerpts from the Hon'ble President of India's address to the Nation.

Members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India gathered for the occassion, also joining the campaign. The celebrations concluded with a presentation of patriotic songs and poetry from the diaspora.
