Wishbone ran on PBS from 1995, casting its Jack Russell Terrier lead inside the classics: Homer, Shakespeare, Dickens, retold at a kid's eye level with the dog playing the hero.

For "The Odyssey," that hero was Odysseus, the Greek king clawing his way home from the Trojan War. The show dressed Wishbone as a Greek warrior and ran his daydream version of the story alongside the real-world lives of the kids who owned him.

Christopher Nolan's film adaptation, with Matt Damon as Odysseus and Tom Holland in the cast, is what put the epic back in front of a mass audience. The joke writes itself for anyone who met the story first through a terrier on public television.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Colleen Dell, the PAWSitive Connections Lab, and the University of Saskatchewan on this remarkable achievement!

The $2.5 million investment from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) is a well-deserved recognition of the important work being done to advance our understanding of the human-animal bond and its role in supporting health, well-being, and belonging.

Initiatives like these help build the evidence base that supports Animal-Assisted Human Services and advances the shared principles of One Health.

Congratulations once again to everyone involved. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this important work will have for years to come.

Amazing news!! Announcing the 'Life with Service Dogs', a new limited series podcast co-produced by Dr. Linzi Williamson and Grace Rath through the PAWSitive Connections Lab!

This 18-episode series is informed by the Canadian patient-oriented research project: Supporting Canadian Veterans Working with Service Dogs and features the voices of service dog handlers, trainers, Veterans, researchers, and family members.

We are thrilled to see evidence-informed resources that help deepen public understanding of the lived experiences of Veterans working with service dogs, and the important role these partnerships can play in daily life, well-being, and support.

Congratulations to Dr. Williamson, Grace Rath, the Research Advisory Committee, funders, guests, and everyone involved in bringing this important series to life!

This 18 episode series is directly informed by the research outcomes and patient partners of a Canadian patient-oriented research project "Supporting Canadian Veterans Working with Service Dogs", funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Canadian Centre on Substance use and Addiction. The episodes feature interviews from service dog handlers and trainers, Veterans, researchers, and family members of Veterans with service dogs. Each episode examines an aspect of life with service dogs, from beginning to end.
