This event offers a safe and welcoming space for womxn to create, reflect, connect, and express hope through art. No art experience is needed, all art levels are welcome.

Join us for a Community Safety Audit in the South Keys area.

WISE is inviting residents and community members to participate in a walk-through safety audit of the pathway connecting South Keys Station to the pedestrian bridge leading toward Cahill Drive West and Plante Drive.

This audit is being organized to hear directly from residents about safety concerns in this area, especially related to walking alone, visibility, lighting, overgrown vegetation, access to help, bridge and railing safety, stormwater/water safety, and feelings of safety after dark.

Community safety audits help identify how public spaces can be made safer, more welcoming, and more accessible for everyone. Residents know their neighbourhood best, and your voice can help identify what feels unsafe, what needs improvement, and what changes could support safer daily use of this route.

Date: July 16th, 2026

Time: 8:00 PM

Meeting Location: Corner of Cahill Drive West and Plante Drive.

Please dress for the weather and bring a flashlight if possible.

All residents are welcome. Your participation can help support safer, stronger, and more walkable neighbourhoods.

WISE is disturbed!
WISE is an agency concerned with the safety of women and vulnerable people in Ottawa. We’ve been hearing media reports about the abuse of power of some Ottawa police officers. It’s been reported that a number of officers have been accessing the communications system available to the police to acquire contact info for women so they can potentially connect. It is reported that they have been identifying attractive women coming out of gyms, coffee shops, women driving next to them in their own vehicle, and following up with former victims to develop romantic relationships.
We are shocked by this and appalled that this abuse of power is happening. We understand that the chief has created a video to all police officers addressing this situation. However, we feel that that is not enough! This stalking behaviour is a serious breach of public trust and those officers engaged in this kind of activity should be relieved of their duties and dismissed. We ask how women can feel safe in this city if this kind of behaviour is tollerated. Given this latest revelations along with all of the other charges related to sexual harassment/assault, laid against officers in the the Ottawa force, there is definitely problems in this police service. WISE is concerned about the safety of all in our city and this presents a huge safety concern for women. We’d like to see these officers removed. We expect more from those who are paid to serve and protect us!

Each shirt represents a voice, a story, and a call for change. Together, these shirts create a powerful visual display of resilience, healing, remembrance, and solidarity.

WISE is offering Women on Wheels, a FREE hands-on workshop series designed to help womxn learn about car safety, basic repairs, and maintenance.

Participants will learn practical skills such as:
-How to change a flat tire
-How to understand the engine and its functions
-What to do in an accident
