It's ! Meet Kassandra (left) and Lexi (right) 👋 They are two of our Store summer students! This is Kassandra's second year with Ontario Parks, and Lexi's fifth year! They are here to help you with rentals and help you find whatever you might need in the Store!

Question: If you could visit another Ontario Provincial Park, which would you choose?
Kassandra's answer: Sandbanks

Question: What species of wildlife do you relate to most and why?
Kassandra's answer: "Otters, because I'm cheerful and love to have fun with friends!"
Lexi's answer: "A bear, because during the winter I also love to eat and sleep!"

This week's is the monarch butterfly 🦋 Easily identifiable for their vibrant orange colour, these beautiful butterflies are the only butterfly known to have a two-way migration like birds!

🔎 Fun Fact: Monarch caterpillars exclusively eat milkweed, which contains toxins. These poisons remain in their bodies into adulthood, making them taste awful. and making predators sick if they try to eat them!

The Summer and Annual Day-Use Vehicle Permits are available to purchase at the Park Office! 🚗🏖️ The perfect companion for Ontario Parks day trippers, these passes allow you to enjoy unlimited day-use entry to Fitzroy (and over 100 other Ontario Parks). Valid for one vehicle and its passengers for the day. Summer passes are valid until November 30, 2026 and Annual passes are valid until December 31, 2026.

This week's is the American toad. 🐸 In Ontario, you'll find only two toad species. American toads are found in a wide variety of terrestrial habitats, from gardens to heavily forested areas. Their thick skin helps prevent dehydration and allows them to use drier habitats.

🔎 Fun Fact: People cannot get warts from touching toads. In fact, the bumps on the skin of toads are not warts at all.

Welcome back to Fitzroy's ! Meet Natalie 👋 Natalie is our Head Gate Attendant, and this is her second year with Ontario Parks! She supervises our Gate summer students, provides customer service, and helps manage our social media channels.

Question: If you could visit another Ontario Provincial Park, which would you choose?
Answer: Killarney for camping and Potholes for day use!

Question: What species of wildlife do you relate to most and why?
Answer: Porcupines, because they are nearsighted and have a great sense of smell!
