Have you ever wondered how a dog becomes a police dog? Where do they learn all those awesome skills?

This is Atim and his imprinter Cst. Lohmann. Atim is still a puppy, about 6 months old to be exact, and he still has a long way to go before becoming a police dog.

Atim won’t be out fighting crime until he’s between 18 months to two years old. In the meantime, he spends day and night with Cst. Lohmann, training, learning and getting lots of snuggles and treats. Among many skills, Atim will be socialized in different environments and learn advanced tracking skills. Cst. Lohmann is one of the amazing RCMP members who volunteers her free time to train and work with potential police dogs.

Atim will be assessed at various ages to determine if he has the skills and temperament to become full-fledged police dog. Good luck Atim!

Canadian traditions were on display in Nairobi, Kenya, at the Canadian High Commission’s Canada Day event on May 21.

Former RCMP Musical Ride member and current Liaison Officer Claude-Michel Cimbert appeared on horseback using ceremonial Musical Ride equipment shipped from Canada. A local horse was outfitted for the occasion, helping bring a unique Canadian tradition to life thousands of kilometres from home.

Protecting Canada and Canadians takes more than readiness in theory—it takes practice, partnership, and the ability to work under pressure. That’s why the RCMP took part in Exercise Vital Archer from Mar 23-Apr 15, including training in the GTA.

Annually, Canadian and U.S. law enforcement, military, security, and civilian partners test interoperability in high-risk scenarios in the event of a weapon of mass destruction threat.

When curiosity meets opportunity!

Earlier this month, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police hosted 35 high school students during its inaugural Junior Diverse and Inclusive Pre-Cadet Experience (DICE) Day at the Canadian Police College. The students got a hands-on look at policing and public service – from meeting the iconic Musical Ride horses, to exploring specialized equipment, and engaging in interactive presentations.

The day was about opening doors, inclusion, and inspiring the next generation to help shape our future!

Every second counts when a child is missing.

In 2025, 34,189 children were reported missing in Canada. This statistic represents children, families, and communities hoping for answers.

Why does this day matter?

Missing Children’s Day is a moment to reflect. Let’s honour children who have been found, remember those still missing, and support the ongoing work to bring them home. Hope is powerful, but awareness and action are even stronger.

Canada’s Missing shares photos and important details about missing persons across the country. If you recognize something, even if you might think it’s the smallest of details, please submit a tip. Investigators review every tip that comes in.

Let’s search for them until they are home.

Over the past 153 years, the RCMP has continually evolved to respond to the changing needs of Canadian society.

While approaches, tools, and operating environments have advanced, the organizations core mission, to serve and protect with integrity and professionalism, remain unchanged.

This milestone underscores both a strong legacy and an ongoing commitment to the future of public safety in Canada.

Lévis man arrested for terrorism allegations
Mohamed Ali Ben Chaoua, 40, has been arrested this morning as part of a national security investigation.

The investigation began in March 2025 following an online report to the RCMP’s National Security Information Network.
According to information gathered so far, Mr. Ben Chaoua allegedly made numerous posts on TikTok in support of the Islamic State.

The purpose of the police operation was to compel Mr. Ben Chaoua to cease his suspicious activities and to lay a terrorism peace bond. This will enable the implementation of monitoring measures and de-escalation tools to disrupt or mitigate potential terrorist offences.

Honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice remains an important part of RCMP.

At National Headquarters, members of the RCMP Fitness Program organized a 5-kilometer run/walk in honour of Constable Sarah Beckett, who died in the line of duty on April 5, 2016.

Employees took part in the run across multiple locations in the National Capital Region, showing their continued support for the friends and families of fallen colleagues.
