Despite our best hopes and preparations, the weather has simply not cooperated this evening.

Due to continuing lightning risk, the Oshawa Santa Claus Parade of Lights has been cancelled.

This decision was made with the safety of our participants, volunteers, and spectators as the top priority. We know how much heart goes into this event each year and share in the disappointment of our community.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the spirit of the season to life — from float builders and performers to families waiting along the route.

We look forward to celebrating together at our other holiday events in the weeks ahead.

Oshawa Santa Claus Parade of Lights
Saturday, November 15

Reporting time is 5:45 at the intersection of King St and Stevenson Rd.
A member of staff will be there to direct cadets to the form up area.
If you do not see a member of staff, ask one of the parade officials where the bands are forming up.

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

The parade steps off at 6:30 but there will be lots of traffic prior to the parade so please arrive by 5:45 so we can get organised in time.

BAND

Please bring just your instrument and music. Leave your cases in the car. We will not be able to look after them for you.

The parade finishes at King St and Division, just west of Ritson Rd. The front of the parade should arrive by 7:30. Please arrange to be waiting for your cadet soon after 7:30 as we do not know where we are in the parade order. Again, there will be a lot of traffic so plan accordingly.

Looking forward to a great parade and Thank you for your participation.

Celebrating 50 years of Females in Cadets! 🙌

On 30 July 1975, Bill C-16 received Royal Assent, prompting the Canadian Armed Forces to officially allow girls to join the Cadet Program, and the JCR Program upon its formation.

The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of female participation in the Canadian Cadet Organizations, a national youth initiative that fosters leadership, citizenship, and physical fitness among young Canadians.

This milestone offers an opportunity to reflect on the progress made toward gender inclusion and to recognize the contributions of thousands of female cadets who have shaped the program over the past five decades.

Passing of a past Commanding Officer - It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of past Commanding Officer, Captain Dave Haylock. Captain Haylock was a dedicated CIC officer who always worked hard to get the very best from and for his cadets. Please keep his friends and family in your thoughts.
