Our NHWW Oromocto program has hit a major milestone - 102 MEMBERS - after launching 3 months ago!

So exciting that this program is going across Canada!

We’re bringing Nursing Home Without Walls (NHWW) to communities across Canada. Building on the program’s success in New Brunswick, we’re partnering with organizations across the country to help more older adults age where they call home. Participating organizations include Government of New Brunswick, AdvantAge Ontario, Pacific Northwest Division of Family Practice and the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

With additional funding for the scaling of this program provided by Waltons Trust, we’re connecting teams to funding, coaching, implementation support and shared learning opportunities as NHWW expands to new provinces and territories. This work reflects HEC’s refreshed 2026-2031 strategy and our commitment to spreading and scaling improvements that expand access to safe, connected, high-quality care closer to home for older adults.

Le programme Foyer de soins sans mur (FSSM) est en pleine expansion partout au Canada. Inspirés par le succès du programme au Nouveau-Brunswick, nous avons noué des partenariats avec des organismes de tout le pays pour aider davantage de personnes aînées à vieillir là où elles se sentent chez elles. Le gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick, AdvantAge Ontario, la Division de médecine familiale de la région du Pacifique Nord-Ouest en Colombie-Britannique et la Régie de la santé de la Saskatchewan font partie des organismes participants.

Grâce aux fonds supplémentaires octroyés par Waltons Trust pour la mise à l’échelle de ce programme, nous offrons aux équipes du financement, un accompagnement, du soutien à la mise en œuvre et des occasions d’apprentissage collectif tout au long de la phase de diffusion pancanadienne. Ce travail reflète la stratégie actualisée d’ESC pour 2026-2031 et notre engagement à diffuser et mettre à l’échelle des améliorations qui élargissent l’accès à des soins sûrs, connectés et de qualité, plus proches du milieu de vie, pour la population aînée.

During a visit with Melissa, our Seniors' Wellness Coordinator, one of our members enjoyed planting strawberries from start to finish - preparing the pots, adding the soil, and planting the seeds while sharing conversation, connection, and plenty of smiles 🍓🥰💗

We had such a great time at our 1st Seated Tai Chi class! Melissa did such a great job 🥰 With the feedback we received this morning, we will be hosting more so stay tuned!

Representatives from organizations including Nursing Home Without Walls, Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, Urban/Rural Rides - Transport Urbain/Rural, Mobile Smiles by Ashley Hayes, Oromocto & Surrounding Area Food Bank, Jessie's Foot Care, Karen Lake, Caregiving Consultant and Care Navigator, Meaningful Connections Adult Day Centre and many more will be available to answer your questions.

This event is hosted by Mary Wilson & Maple Ridge Enhanced Living.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲: We are excited to begin 𝐍𝐇𝐖𝐖 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 and a new 𝐍𝐇𝐖𝐖 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 in partnership with the Oromocto Food Bank! These programs will focus on movement, connection, fresh air, and growing together within our community.

There is something for everyone, and we look forward to welcoming familiar and new faces throughout the month!

Today's Lunch & Learn event, led by Amy from Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick, offered valuable insights into Depression in Older Adults & Seniors.

NHWW members appreciated the opportunity to learn about crucial life topics while supporting local businesses, including This & That for soup & sandwiches and Oromocto Training and Employment Centre for the cookies.
