Thank you to Lake Country Pride for organizing this meaningful event and for the work they do year-round to foster connection, awareness, and belonging throughout our community.

👏 Today we celebrated our City crossing guards at a Thank You Lunch to honour the incredible dedication of these hard-working individuals. These friendly faces play a vital role in keeping students and community members safe every day, no matter the weather!

One crossing guard shared an important reminder: "Everybody has to be aware. I hope from now until the end of the school year that everybody stays safe at the crosswalks - because we all want to go home safe to our families."

Join us in celebrating School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week and recognizing the amazing people who go above and beyond for our community! 🦺

Interested in making a difference as a crossing guard substitute? We're always looking for dedicated individuals to help keep our community safe. Reach out to [email protected] to learn more.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. The City of Orillia recognizes and honours Indigenous Peoples for their important contributions in shaping the place we call home. Take time to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, but also find moments for reflection on the ongoing impacts of colonization and how we can all contribute to reconciliation.

Have an event you’d like to promote? Individuals and organizations offering experiential activities to the public, such as workshops, classes, festivals, and other events, are encouraged to submit the events to our community calendar at Orillia.ca/Calendar

The City of Orillia is proud to support and celebrate the diversity that enriches our community. Pride Month is celebrated every June as a part of Pride Season (June-September). It honours the resilience, history, and achievements of 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two-Spirit, Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) individuals in Canada and around the world. Pride is a time to celebrate identity, promote visibility and inclusion, and acknowledge the ongoing work of advocates who continue to push for equality and human rights.

Please join us at 11 am on Monday, June 8th for a Pride Flag Raising Ceremony!

The ceremony will be held outside of the Orillia Opera House at 20 Mississaga Steet West, Orillia.

Hope to see you there!
