Dufferin County Welcome to the official page for Dufferin County. It is largely a rural county with three urban settlement areas.

The County of Dufferin is an upper-tier municipality which sits on the fringe of the Greater Toronto Area, about 100 km northwest of Toronto. The region is well known for its rivers, rolling hills and excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. The UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, the Niagara Escarpment and the world-famous Bruce Trail, run through Dufferin offering spectacular vistas and hiking op

Council has proclaimed May as both MS and Lupus months, to bring attention and awareness to two conditions that significantly impact the lives of many of the county's residents, visitors and loved ones.

Lupus Awareness Month is dedicated to educating the public about this complex autoimmune disease, advocating for earlier diagnoses, funding research, and supporting the millions of people living with its unpredictable symptoms.

Dufferin County is excited to announce it will be launching a Green Development Program later this year.

At its meeting last week, County Council approved the implementation of a voluntary Green Development Program in partnership with Grey and Wellington Counties, with an anticipated launch in Summer 2026.

The Program will support:
🏘️Reduced long-term housing costs
💚Improved resilience to climate risks
💲Economic development in the green building sector

It's gardening season! 🌸🍅💚

Join our Dufferin County Waste Services team this weekend and get up to two FREE blue box-sized worth of compost per household. First come, first served!

Compost has many benefits including natural disease suppression and water retention. But remember that too much of a good thing can be harmful to plants! Compost is a soil amendment and is not to be used to replace natural soil.

A reminder for secondary students! The application deadline for the Bill Hill Scholarship program is approaching! Be sure to get your application in by May 31, 2026.

The annual Bill Hill Scholarship Program consists of seven one-time $2,500 scholarships. It was introduced by former Warden Bill Hill in 2015 and is intended to recognize outstanding students from the county who will be pursuing post-secondary education and/or training.

Seven scholarship awards will be considered for students entering a university, college or trade/apprentice program.
