Attend the County's LAST Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Event of the year on Halloween in Orangeville! 🎃

It's spooky season! You know what's spookier? Old hazardous waste materials piling up in your home!

Recycle them responsibly by attending the final Household Hazardous & Electronic Waste event of 2026 on Saturday, October 31 from 8am – 3pm at the Orangeville Operations Centre!

October is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Month and today is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day!

At a Council meeting last month, Dufferin County Council was proud to proclaim October as Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Month in Dufferin.

Dufferin County recognizes and appreciates all that Early Childhood Educators do for our community. Child care workers and ECEs collaborate with children, families and community members to create engaging environments and experiences to foster children’s learning. They play an important role in children's development and health and wellbeing, and support them in reaching their potential as individuals and family and community members.

Dufferin County ECEs are dedicated to hard work, reflective practice, leadership and continuous professional learning. They consistently provide quality care for children and families, every day.

THANK YOU to our child care workers and ECEs, today, this month and always. ❤

Heads up, ! Staff from Bryan’s Fuel will be participating in an emergency response exercise on October 29, 2026.

During this event, you might observe activity around the site on Richardson Road in Orangeville, but don't panic! The exercise helps ensure that their procedures are current and effective to keep our community safe.

Exercises like this provide a great opportunity to reflect on how to prepare for and stay safe during emergencies.

Dufferin County joins communities across Canada in mourning the lives lost in the CFB Wainwright fire in Alberta.

The flag at Dufferin County's Administrative Offices at 55 Zina Street has been lowered to half-mast to recognize this heartbreaking loss.

Our deepest condolences go out to all Canadian Armed Forces members and the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy. The County is also thinking about those who were injured.

We join people across Canada in offering our sincerest condolences.

👻DIY your seasonal décor! Get creative with projects using recycled materials. Transform old jars into lanterns or ghosts from old sheets.
🎃Enjoy sustainable treats! Source locally grown pumpkins and make delicious, homemade pumpkin treats. Reduce waste and support local Dufferin farmers.
♻️Dress up in second-hand costumes! Consider thrifted or upcycled costumes. Give old outfits new life and reduce textile waste. Use our Clothes’ing the Loop map to find businesses, organizations and/or community donations bins near you!
💚Compost your pumpkins! Residents can put pumpkins in their yard waste or beside their Green Bin.

Together with Grey and Wellington Counties, was excited to officially launch the Green Development Program this week.👏🏘️💚

The Green Development Program is a new regional framework that recognizes new residential developments built to be more energy efficient, prepared for extreme weather, and affordable over the long-term.

The voluntary program, developed in partnership with the three counties and supported by Natural Resources Canada's Codes Acceleration Fund, gives builders and developers a consistent regional framework to accelerate adoption of sustainable building features.

Through this program, we're excited to showcase what's practical, possible, and already happening in our local communities!

As the County's 2026 Capital Construction Program nears completion, we wanted to highlight some ongoing work that will help ensure a safe, reliable and efficient road network for our residents, businesses, emergency services and visitors.

Work continues on:

🛣️Rehabilitation of approximately 9.7 kilometres of County Road 10 between County Road 25 and the west limits of Laurel
🛣️Rehabilitation of the culvert approximately 75 metres east of 15 Sideroad on County Road 109 in the Township of East Garafraxa

Please slow down, obey posted signage and exercise caution when travelling through construction areas.

Thank you to our community members and visitors for their patience as we worked to improve our roads and maintain infrastructure over the past months!
