From March 29th - April 7th, 2025 much of Dufferin County was impacted by an ice storm and subsequent power outage and we want to hear from residents about their experiences.

Are you aware of small businesses, small farms, or not-for-profit organizations that suffered uninsured property damage during the March 28, 2025 ice storm, please share this important information from the Government of Ontario with them.

The Business Ice Storm Assistance Program offers one-time support to eligible organizations impacted by the storm whose losses are not covered by insurance.

Join Dufferin Emergency Search and Rescue (DESAR)!

Do you want to make a real difference in your community? Are you ready to train, respond, and save lives?

DESAR is looking for dedicated volunteers to join their team. DESAR is part of the Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association (OSARVA), working closely with police and emergency services across the province.

-Learn wilderness search techniques
-Provide support during community emergencies
-Train alongside some of Ontario’s top SAR professionals
-Make friends, build skills, and help bring loved ones home

No experience necessary—just a commitment to learn and serve.

A FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Grand Valley and Waldemar. a FLOOD WATCH is in effect for the remainder of the Grand River watershed through Dufferin County.

Numerous roads are closed at this time.

Motorists are advised to avoid travelling on closed roadways and nobody should venture too close to the water.

Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2:15 pm.
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has issued a Flood Warning message for Town of Grand Valley and the hamlet of Waldemar in Amaranth Township.

Snow melt and rainfall will combine to create more runoff than the river channel can contain throughout the weekend. Resident is those areas should be prepared to take actions to ensure the safety of their families and property.

Do you know which Conservation Authority monitors flooding where you live? In Dufferin County there are five separate watersheds and each of them has the responsibility for monitoring water flows and issuing alerts when flooding may occur.
