As Sexual Violence Prevention Month comes to a close, the work doesn't stop.

Not every story becomes a headline. Not every survivor reports. Not every case sees justice.

But every survivor deserves support, dignity, and safety—and that need doesn't end when the month does.

Prevention, education, and community care are year-round commitments. Thank you to everyone who showed up for this work in May. We carry it forward together. 💜

Call us any time if you need support: 1-800-265-9178.
FTP offers:
✔️ Individual counselling for survivors of past or present-day sexual violence (ages 16+)
✔️ Counselling for partners, family, and friends of survivors
✔️ Group counselling, peer support, and community education
✔️ Services available for all genders

Sexual violence is preventable and there are programs right here in Dufferin County and Caledon helping make that a reality.

FTP offers education, training, and workshops to help communities understand the various forms of sexual violence and the supports available locally. All community partners, businesses, and institutions in Caledon and Dufferin County are invited to get involved.

One initiative within this work is CLEAR (Coaching Leadership, Equity and Respect)—a free program delivered to sports organizations and schools that helps coaches, educators, and leaders:
✅ Build respectful, inclusive environments
✅ Strengthen understanding of equity and healthy relationships
✅ Promote positive leadership and communication
✅ Prevent harassment, discrimination, and violence through education

When we understand consent, challenge harmful attitudes, and invest in prevention education, we create safer communities for everyone.

Sexual Violence Prevention Month (SVPM) is about stopping harm before it happens.

That means tackling the root causes: gaps in consent education, harmful gender norms, and the silence and stigma that let violence go unchallenged.

In Canada, most sexual violence is committed by someone the survivor knows. It's vastly underreported and it affects people of all genders.

Prevention has to happen everywhere—in our relationships, friend groups, schools, and workplaces. All of us have a role to play.

Today is World Hunger Day—a reminder that 673 million people around the world are still facing hunger. This year's theme, "The End of Hunger is in our Hands," says it all. Change is possible and it starts with all of us.

This May, during Sexual Violence Prevention Month (SVPM), we are focusing on what it really takes to build safer communities in Dufferin County and Caledon.

Prevention looks like:
➡️ understanding consent
➡️ speaking up when something feels wrong
➡️ supporting survivors
➡️ challenging harmful attitudes

Because ending sexual violence isn’t one person’s responsibility, t’s everyone’s.

A huge thank you to Evangeline and her classmates from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School! As part of their Grade 12 Religion class, Evangeline's group chose to give back to the community by creating approximately 40 Busy Bags for the children staying at our shelter—filled with colouring books, crayons, toys, and more.

Acts of kindness like this make a real difference for families during difficult times. We are so grateful! 💛
