This weekend, Kanehsatake Perimeter Security (KPS) intervened on the site of an accident involving an ATV (one injured person) , and later, a two-car crash incident (no reported injuries). First Nations Paramedics, the Oka Fire Department and the Sûreté du Québec were called on site to attend to the victim of the ATV accident. As of today, September 8th, circulation is back to normal.
We are deeply sorry to confirm that the woman involved in the ATV incident has passed away as a result of her injuries. We therefore wish to extend our sympathies to her family and friends.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident, which is considered at the moment as a failure to stop (hit and run)since the people who were with the victim at the time are reported to have fled the scene.
We want to thank the persons who then stopped to assist the victim and call for help.
