🦝 Sometimes our volunteers are so busy caring for wildlife that important acknowledgements can unintentionally get delayed. While this thank you is long overdue, it is no less heartfelt. ❤️

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Tanya Pether for organizing the inaugural Point Edward Art Fair in support of Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue.

🎨 This event was so much more than an art show. It brought together local artists, businesses, volunteers, and community members for a day that celebrated creativity, connection, and giving back, while also honouring the memory of Tanya’s brother, Tim Pether.

Months of planning and hard work went into making this event a reality. The fair featured talented local artists showcasing and selling their work, generous vendors who contributed items for a community raffle, a Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue information tent, and the support of countless volunteers who helped make the day a success.

🍔 We would also like to extend a special thank you to Jeremy’s Texas BBQ, who generously donated their time, supplies, and proceeds from the event to support the wildlife in our care.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, a significant contribution was made to Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue. Every dollar helps us provide food, shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation for orphaned, injured, and displaced wildlife.

🧶 What many people may not realize is that Tanya’s support of Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue extends far beyond this event. Over the years, she has continually found ways to support our mission through fundraising, donations, advocacy, wildlife transport and her unwavering compassion for wildlife.

Tanya, thank you for your dedication, generosity, and countless hours of hard work. Your support has made a meaningful difference to our rescue and the animals we care for. We are incredibly grateful. 🐾

Please join us in thanking Tanya for everything she has done for Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue. ❤️

🔥With wildfire risk currently high in our area, it’s more important than ever that we all do our part to prevent fires before they start.

Wildfires don’t just threaten our homes and communities, they also destroy vital wildlife habitat and can injure or kill countless animals that have nowhere to escape. 🦝🦊Simple actions and responsible choices can make a big difference.

Please take a moment to review the information below and help keep our forests, wildlife, and communities safe.⬇️

🔥 Wildfire Risk Increasing Across Southern Ontario with Widespread High to Extreme Danger Expected Thursday

Heads up! While we’ve been enjoying a stretch of warm, sunny and dry weather, those same conditions are causing wildfire danger to steadily increase across much of Southern Ontario.

Over the past few days, wildfire danger ratings have already climbed into the “high” category in many areas. By Thursday, the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System (CWFIS) is forecasting widespread “extreme” wildfire danger across Southern Ontario.

An extreme wildfire danger rating means fires can start very easily, spread rapidly, and become difficult to control. Even a small spark from a campfire, cigarette, ATV, trailer chain dragging on pavement, or outdoor equipment can quickly ignite dry grass and brush.

If you’re planning any outdoor burning, be sure to check with your local municipality first. Fire bans and burn restrictions may already be in place, or could be issued as conditions continue to worsen.

You can also help reduce the risk by properly extinguishing campfires, avoiding the use of fireworks where permitted, disposing of smoking materials safely, and keeping vehicles off dry grass whenever possible.

The good news is that slightly cooler temperatures and the chance of more widespread rainfall this weekend should help lower the wildfire danger, at least temporarily. However, current forecasts suggest next week may trend fairly dry again after the weekend rain, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the wildfire risk climb once more.

Stay safe and be extra cautious with any activity that could create a spark. 🔥

We love the posters! When our youth becomes invested in our environment and our local wildlife, it helps to create another generation who will protect them.

Over the past 2 weeks, Tree Top Learning students have been working on posters that will be displayed at Pet Value (Petrolia) next week! Be sure to come in to check out their works of art and if you are so inclined, leave a donation for Heaven's Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation & Education Centre before you leave OR buy something to be donated to the centre. 🥰
Donations of toys, puppy kibble, tortoise bedding, dried flowers, flea spray, turtle bulbs for heat, turtle stick food (not the round ones*) and of course CASH is always accepted. ALSO, if you have Tupperware containers (with lids) or dogs toys (even broken ones)- everything is appreciated.

🏀🎳LOOKING FOR SUMMER GAMES🚴🏼‍♀️

Our summer baby season is in full swing at Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue, and we are so grateful for the incredible volunteer interns who come to stay with us each year to help care for orphaned and injured wildlife babies. 🐿️🦝🦉

These dedicated young people spend the majority of their days and nights feeding, cleaning, monitoring, and caring for our wildlife patients. Their compassion and hard work make such a huge difference during our busiest season.

Life out here in Oil Springs can be a little quiet during their downtime, so we would love to help make their summer more enjoyable and show our appreciation for everything they do for the rescue.

We are currently looking for donations of:
🏀 A couple basketballs

⛑️ 4 adult bike helmets - helmets have generously been donated by Alexandra and also Nancy! Thank you!!

🌳 Large outdoor yard games such as:
• Corn hole
• Lawn darts
• Ladder toss
• Giant Jenga
• Bocce ball
• Spikeball
• KanJam
• Badminton sets

If you have any gently used items you would like to donate, we would be so appreciative! Helping our interns relax and enjoy some fun during their downtime helps support the amazing people who give so much of themselves to wildlife care.

Thank you for always supporting Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue and the people behind the scenes who help make this work possible. 💚💚
