Whether you have to get out of your house fast, or have to evacuate to a safe place, knowing who to contact, where to go, and what to bring are important steps to keeping the entire family safe.

Another great turnout for the annual Oil Springs "Groundhog Breakfast" this past weekend.

A packed house, full bellies and smiles, and great time for everyone who joined us and supported the event.

We were happy to help volunteer our time to help cook for everyone and provide some fire prevention and emergency management information that could help keep you safe in the winter months, especially given this winter's weather.

Special thanks to the Oil Springs Parks and Rec committee for letting us help and raise some spirits and important funds for youth programs.

The Oil Springs-South Enniskillen Fire Department is currently recruiting Probationary Firefighters for the department and invite residents of the Village of Oil Springs and South Enniskillen response area, to apply for this exciting new challenge.

APPLICANTS MUST
Demonstrate a strong commitment to participate in mandatory training sessions and maintaining readiness to responds to calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as availability permits. Have a valid G driver’s license, clean drivers abstract
A DZ license is an asset, required in the future.
Be 18 years of age or older.
Willingness to achieve Firefighter 1 & 2

ALL NECESSARY TRAINING IS PROVIDED - will commence in February 2026.

This week is Carbon Monoxide Awareness week. When the clocks turn back, we are all reminded to check our smoke detectors.

It is also recommended to check your Carbon Monoxide detectors too.

As carbon monoxide is a deadly odorless, colourless, tasteless gas, a working detector is the first line of defense for you and your family.

Check your detector's manufacture date, replace old batteries and detectors and stay safe!

Charge any lithium-ion battery device on a hard surface—never on your bed, couch, or under a pillow. And don’t overcharge.

Once it’s at 100%, unplug and move on.

Anything with a lithium-ion battery— phones, laptops, e-bikes, power tools —can become a fire hazard if it’s not charged safely.

Always use the charger that came with the device or one approved by the manufacturer.

If the cord only works when you bend it just right, it’s time to replace it.
