WHAT YOU ARE TO EXPECT FROM OUR CANADIAN HOSPITALS AT END OF LIFE....

HOSPITALS OFFER:
● Family Support/ Bereavement staff offer continuous communication with loved ones and connect them with post death bereavement resources.
●Medical Assistance in dying. Where requested by an eligible patient and permitted under federal and provincial laws hospitals must facilitate or provide assessments and administration for MAID,the medical procedure to end life.
● Psychosocial/ spiritual care hospitals provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to help patients and their families cope with grief. Closure, and the dying process.
●Advance care planning care teams review or establish advance care directives ,your written instructions regarding future medical treatments and identify a substitute decision maker, the person chosen to make medical decisions if the patient cannot
●symptom management doctors and nurses actively control physical discomfort such as pain. nausea, anxiety, trouble breathing using medications and comfort measures.
