🏡 It’s back to school time and we’re proud that Halton continues to be a community where children and parents feel safe and supported.

That sense of security is reflected in a recent Kindergarten Parent Survey, where 97 per cent of parents said Halton is a safe place to raise children.

Maintaining this strong foundation requires ongoing collaboration and investment. Through the Halton Region Community Investment Fund, we support nonprofit programs and services that strengthen health, safety and well-being for families.

Here are 4 quick reminders before you get behind the wheel:

🚗 Obey speed limits, especially in school zones and Community Safety Zones.
🚗 Don't drive distracted. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.
🚗 Be crosswalk smart and watch for pedestrians, children and crossing guards.
🚗 Arrive alive and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, Halton Region joined ADAPT Halton and Halton Regional Police Service in Burlington to honour those whose lives have been lost to overdose, recognize those living with opioid use challenges, and support the families, friends, and communities affected by this crisis.

Through the ongoing collaboration with our community partners, organizations and healthcare providers, we are working to increase access to naloxone and other supports and help connect people to the care they need.

Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and save lives.

Strong partnerships lead to better care.

Yesterday’s investment in Halton Region’s Paramedic Services through the Land Ambulance Grant (nearly $27.7 million) and the Dedicated Offload Nursing Fund (nearly $1.5 million) will help paramedics and hospitals work more efficiently together, supporting faster access to emergency care for residents across Halton.

Thank you to Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, MPP Stephen Crawford, MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos, MPP Zee Hamid, MPP Natalie Pierre and the Ontario Government for this important investment in our community.

Halton Region was proud to attend , joining municipal and provincial partners from across Ontario including some federal representatives to discuss the issues that matter most to our residents and businesses.

We shared our priorities, strengthened partnerships, and explored solutions that will help our community thrive today and into the future.

We also engaged in meaningful discussions on key priority issues for , including:

✅ Providing housing for those with the greatest need

✅ Expanding affordable childcare spaces to meet current and growing community demand

✅ Keeping property taxes and water/wastewater rates as low as possible for our residents and businesses

The election for the 2026-2028 AMO Board of Directors also took place at the conference and Regional Councillor Colin Best will continue to represent Halton as part of the Regional and Single Tier Caucus.

Halton Region remains committed to working collaboratively with all levels of government to advance our shared priorities and to building a stronger, more resilient future for our region.
