Introducing Township Humanities
We are excited to be partnering with the Douro-Dummer Public Library and theTrent Lakes Public Library on a new program called Township Humanities. This program brings university scholarship into our rural public libraries through accessible, professor-led lectures and discussions. Each session is offered by a different humanities or social sciences professor and is centered around a short text, which attendees can pick up at the library beforehand. The sessions begin on Thursday, September 17th at the Douro-Dummer Public Library.

📋 Council Meeting Highlights – September 8, 2026

The recording of the September 8, 2026 Township of Asphodel-Norwood Council Meeting is now available on YouTube.

Meeting highlights:
• Council received the 2027 Budget Schedule
• Council received an update on progress with the Township’s Asset Management Plan
• Council approved an after-hours water reconnection fee of $197.50
• Council authorized an amending agreement with the Township’s Integrity Commissioner, Cunningham, Swan, Carty, Little & Bonham LLP
• Council considered a fee waiver request for three new Habitat for Humanity homes in the Village of Norwood. Consistent with past practice, fees for building and plumbing permits, 911 signs, water meters, and water and wastewater connections were not waived. County and Township development charges have, however, been refunded
• Council passed a by-law establishing seasonal maintenance standards and authorizing annual winter closures and the use of gates on portions of River Rd

School is back, but there’s still time to splash!
The splash pad at the Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre Park hours will gradually decrease as we head into fall:

📅 September 8–13
Daily: 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

📅 September 14–20
Monday–Friday: 12:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 10:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

📅 September 21–27
Monday–Friday: 2:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

📅 September 28–October 4
