🚧 Water Service Interruption Notice – Thursday, June 18, 2026

Please be advised that a water shut down will take place on Highway 7 in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood:

📍 Highway 7 – from the traffic lights to Cedar Street
📅 Thursday, June 18, 2026
⏰ 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

This shut down is required to complete water service upgrades.

Affected residents and businesses are encouraged to prepare in advance by storing sufficient water for drinking and household use during this time.

We thank you for your patience and understanding while this important infrastructure work is completed.

🚧 Road Closure Notice – Asphodel 7th Line

Please be advised that Asphodel 7th Line, just north of Centre Line in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood, will be fully closed on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 after morning school bus routes have been completed.

The closure may also be required again on Thursday, June 18, 2026 - weather permitting.

The work is being completed to address drainage and subgrade repairs in preparation for new surface treatment in the coming weeks.

The road will reopen daily to accommodate afternoon school bus routes.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this work is completed.

Waste Connections has advised that garbage collection could not be completed on the side roads south of County Road 2 in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood today, Monday, June 15, 2026.

Collection will place first thing tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

A Seniors' Seminar, hosted by David Piccini, MPP - Northumberland-Peterborough South, will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026 at the Cobourg Community Centre.

This event will bring together valuable community resources and services to help seniors stay informed, connected, and supported.

The recording of the Township of Asphodel-Norwood Council Meeting held on June 9, 2026, is now available on YouTube.

Highlights from the meeting included:

• Direction to look to sell the Hanna Frame following the Canada Day event
• Approval to install low-flying aircraft signage on Asphodel 7th Line and Asphodel 8th Line (⚠️ more information below)
• Further consideration of a road grader purchase
• Support for staff to work with neighbouring municipalities on a joint request for proposals for curbside garbage, recycling and organics collection
• Approval to use any potential surplus funds within the Capital Surface Treatment budget to repave Wellington Street in conjunction with the County Road 40 reconstruction work
• Recommendation regarding Amended Consent Application B-4-26A
• Endorsement of the County-wide Joint Community Safety and Well-being Plan through Peterborough County
• Approval of a donation request from the Peterborough County Plowmen’s Association

⚠️ The low-flying aircraft signage is required because, although the runway located between Asphodel 7th Line and Asphodel 8th Line has been dormant for many years, it has retained its designation as an official aircraft landing area. Under federal requirements applicable to small aircraft landing areas, signage must be installed where roadways run perpendicular to either end of the landing strip.
