To support more family-friendly environments across our communities, certain areas of our communities have been officially designated as Drug and Alcohol Free Zones.

In these areas, public intoxication or the consumption of alcohol is not permitted. Let’s work together to keep these spaces safe, welcoming, and vibrant for our youth, elders, and families.

Designated Zones:
Zone 1: Capilano River on both sides of the river between the bridges.
Zone 2: Xwmelch’sten (Capilano) Field and adjacent buildings, Lacrosse Box, Chief Joe Mathias Centre, and Capilano Little Ones School.
Zone 3: Eslha7an, the courtyard, parking lot, and common areas of the Mission Townhouses between West 4th and West 5th.
Zone 4: Stawamus, the waterfront area around the Canoe Shed and Totem Hall.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our lands and community safe and respectful.

We are excited to be part of this celebration, and to honour the inspirational and important work of the Peacekeepers in keeping our communities safe for decades.

Community will gather at Totem Hall on July 3 to honour the Squamish Nation Peacekeepers, a volunteer-led organization that has dedicated decades of service to the safety and wellbeing of Squamish People.

This event will also mark the beginning of a “Passing the Torch” from the Peacekeepers to the Squamish Nation Public Safety team, who now carry this important responsibility forward.

The gathering will include a prayer and Squamish song, gifting of the Peacekeepers’ vests, words from Peacekeepers, Elders, Council Members, and partners, followed by a shared meal.

🐻 As we enjoy the beautiful outdoors across our territory, it's important to be aware of our wildlife neighbours, especially bears.

Recent bear sightings remind us to be cautious and respectful of these majestic animals.

When hiking or spending time in nature, please remember to keep your distance and secure your food. Also, keep your garbage bins locked and make sure to secure outdoor attractants.

If you encounter any bear incidents or have concerns, please report them to the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line: 1-877-952-7277.

Let’s enjoy our amazing territory safely and responsibly.

Check out our "Tree Planting Initiative" at Moodyville, organized by Public Safety's Emergency Planning and Response team. We were thrilled to collaborate on this special event with the Nation's Climate Legacy and Habitat Team., and the incredible youth from St'a7mes Schools. Our guest speaker, Randy Lewis was a wonderful addition - sharing his knowledge and leadership with everyone. Taking care of our lands and water and engaging with our youth is exactly how we build a resilient foundation for today and tomorrow.

Huy chexw a to all hands-on helpers who made this day such a beautiful success. We can’t wait for the next tree planning initiative!
